I almost hate to ask how you think that GM crops lead to farmland destruction. Virtually all corn and soybeans raised in the US are GM. Those crops require less tillage, hebicide, pesticide, fertilizers and water than the open pollinated versions (which were really also GM, only modified by less efficient means)
Talk to the farmers in Canada that have been driven off their land by the destruction caused by their neighbors growing GMO Rape (Canola).
