Dick's Sporting Goods and Herb Phillipson's returning Guns to Manufacturer NOW (Syracuse, NY)
me

Posted on 01/19/2013 4:47:52 PM PST by MacMattico

I am not an expert on gun types, although I have shot many and know the ones I have shot, so don't kill the messenger if I mess this thread up!

My husband went to Dicks Sporting Goods and Herb Phillipson's in search of a Mossberg 702 or a Rueger 10 Flash 22, both 22 calibre's with 10 round clips and both stores were all out. He asked if there was a run on what my husband called "a gun he wished to buy for his daughter." Both store managers told him their corporate offices made them send all of these 22's back to the company, as they had 10 round clips. My husband had the law printed out from Gov. Cuomo's office showing them that these could be purchased up until April 1st. Both managers said their company tells them what to do and the company was concerned with "liability". So my husband said will you be getting these back with a 7 round clip? AND THE ANSWER WAS "NO, NO MANUFACTURER IS GOING TO MAKE A 7 ROUND CLIP JUST FOR NY, THEY'LL SEND US THE 5 ROUND THEY ALREADY MAKE!" Did Cuomo know this? (I ask because he's an idiot). Is this his sneaky way of getting NY down to 5 round clips and gun dealers already sending away guns they don't have to through "liability" intimidation?

Oh yes they will. Just look at Holly Wood how many movies or TV shows involving firearms would be made if they stayed true to there principals.

I actually could admire Richard Dean Anderson’s principles when he starred in MacGyver, but with Stargate1 he lost it. It was ok for him to use firearms in his work but he was against anyone else having access to them.

Dicks recently opened a couple stores in..Tulsa, OK.

From what I can see...their prices are out of line anyway.

But I'm sorry....I just ain't setting foot..into a store called Dicks.

And this just seals it for me. I will never shop there.

I was referring to New York FReepers, who I assume would be conservatives, not your run-of-the-mill resident of that place. I doubt if many DUmmies, Kos Kids or other lefties reading this are loading up the Prius for Plano.

Ruger makes a 5 round magazine for the 10-22. There is also a single shot unit.

Dicks can send their guns back to the factories. There are hundreds of gun shops waiting for the returned guns to be shipped to them.

Hey! I’m no lib! I’m in upstate NY in a traditionally conservative county born and raised. My ancestors came here and owned and farmed half the county. But NY has been taken over. I’m outta here in aprox. 5 years when it will be most advantageous to my family. Meanwhile, I vote and try to make changes in my home state.

Sometimes Freud has a hand in a name. The “slip” is this company living up to its name. Still a lot of options in other gun dealers, let these dicks make a living sucking up to the progressives.

The money Texas doesn’t get because there is no Income Tax is made up by the outrageous Property Taxes, over 3% of Full Appraised Value.

If you work, Texas is the place to be, if you retire with little income, not so much.

Of course it isn’t that bad. In Jersey they screw you on both Income and Property Taxes.

In Mississippi, you get a break on Property Taxes if you’re over 65, and Property is cheap as well.

I stopped going to Dicks months ago when I purchased a gun sling and they asked me for ID. I told them, “no” and explained that there is no law, federal, state or local that requires anyone show ID for a gun sling. They gave me crap and insisted on my ID so I won’t do business with the ever again. They know where I stand. I hope their liberal asses go out of business. There are plenty local gun shops to do business. It is unfortunate they are not as close to my home as Dicks, but now I plan better and take the time to go where I am welcome.

Let em see how long they survive on the business the tree hugging kayaking crowd gives them.

Exactly what I was thinking. Most businesses try not to be involved in controversies lest they offend half their customer base. But -- if you ARE going to choose sides, better think long and carefully about which one and what the consequences will be.

The Garand device is called an “en bloc clip”. Different from a magazine, and different from a stripper clip.

Oddly the second half of my post didn’t post.

Yes, en bloc systems are different from both fixed and removable magazines in requiring the en bloc to be present to function. However, once loaded into the weapon, you have a complete magazine system. The clip forms the side walls and the feeding lips.

The question remains how the socialists will define “magazine capacity” for en blocs.
