Her death came just hours after she went to the hospital seeking help for severe abdominal pain.

“Jamie was seeking help; she was in extreme pain,” family friend Kemper Kimberlin said.

Hospital staff reported Jamie wouldn’t cooperate, in too much pain to even lie down, so employees asked a Pauls Valley police officer to assist.

Unfortunately, when police found two prescription pills that didn’t belong to Jamie, police took her to jail for drug possession.

That’s where Jamie sat for less than two hours before being found unresponsive.

“There is nothing my staff in the jail could’ve done differently. She had a medical release from the hospital stating that she was fit for incarceration,” Rhodes said.
Sorry, Mr Rhodes. Police are first responders and have no business incarcerating a woman showing such an array of symptoms, throwing her into a jail cell and leaving her to bleed out and die. You should have countered the hospital staff with your own judgment and insisted she be transported to another hospital, or at least brought in another doctor. I hope you never forget that an innocent woman who needed help died in your care. Gross stupidity and incompetence on your part.

A woman and her child’s life are a small price to pay to keep the drug war going. After all, 60,000 have died in Mexico in the last 5 years.

Yep, over 2 pills. They used to be called peace officers.

“Another drug-related death”, as the “Ex-Police” on SNL would say.

The hospital needs to be sued as they released her claiming she was fit to be put in jail. They should not have involved the cops, rather called in family. Nurses used to have the human relations skills to calm down people in such distress. Why could they not give her medication sitting up until she was able to lay down?

The cop was an unprofessional, evil ignoramous to arrest and lock her for the possession of two pills while she was in such distress. He could arrest her after doctors assessed her problem.

People are out of their minds. It makes you hope you are not vulnerable in the wrong place, surrounded by hyenias disguised as human beings.

I remember a story about a family member that called police to help her give insulan to her aged mother as she was in shock and not co-operating. The police proceded to taze the poor old woman.

A pt. coming into the hospital with that much pain should’ve been examined standing up, if necessary. Something was obviously wrong. I am a retired nurse (RN). That amount of pain, even if the pt. had someone else’s pain medicine (trying to get some relief) indicates that something is terribly wrong. If she stated she was pregnant, my first thought would’ve been a tubal pregnancy, and I have never been an obstetrics nurse, except when evening supervisor and on call for the ER, LR, OR. Sadly, this may be an indicator of what is coming. If the symptoms don’t match the set they’re looking for, or someone has been using an RX not their own, I guess we might find ourselves in jail.

We’d better pray for good health! While we’re at it, let’s pray for this family! This is an outrage.

Right after he shot the family pet...?

The thuggary is so completely out of hand. They need to have their job and pensions taken, then put them in the can so they get a taste of their own medicine. 2 pills - so put a suffering pregnant woman in jail to die. Criminal. Sickening.

This is why you *always* use the buddy system in a hospital. If anything happens to the person who needs to go to the hospital, there is somebody there to watch over them.

This rule applies doubly for the elderly. Even if they are fully awake and alert, many hospitals will automatically triage them to the end of the line. This is why they should be accompanied by somebody young, strong, and who looks very pissed off and looking for an excuse.

A curled lip and a snarl may very well save somebody’s life, where helplessness and humbleness will get somebody killed.

A couple more basic words of wisdom:

1) If you want to stay healthy, stay away from the doctor.
2) Never sign anything.
3) Never let anyone take your shoes.
4) If you seek Justice... stay away from the judicial system.
5) Most problems of the human condition can be solved with an appropiately applied amount of high explosives.
6) Never overlook an opportunity to keep your big mouth shut.

Indeed. Many women on Free Republic could find themselves felons if the wrong LEO found their children’s or their elderly parents’ medications in their purse.

Another reason why the war on drugs really has nothing to do with drugs, but was implemented to control and intimidate the American citizenry.
