A person familiar with the situation says Robert Griffin III will have surgery Wednesday to repair a torn ligament in his right knee.

The person said Griffin has a torn lateral collateral ligament and that the surgery will also determine whether he also has damaged the ACL.

I hope the Redskins invest in a better field before he comes back.

Surprise. A third year med student knows about the "unhappy triad".

I'll leave it for Shannhan, RG III, and the team orthopedist to debate why he was left (or even started) in the game.

I really like the QB, but his weak knee was not reason enough to risk a potentaially career-ending injury.

I am tired of the gushing over RG III. I have no problem with him, he seems like a solid individual. My problem is with the liberal media annointing him their new Donovan McNabb.

I'd file a workmen's comp claim with the Commonwealth of Maryland. That'll get the field fixed toute de suite !

I don’t have a problem with talking about a great player, but everyone blames the loss on him getting hurt.

Like Seattle offense (who made it to the red zone like 4 times in the second half) and the fantastic Seattle defense (who stopped Washington from having EVEN ONE PLAY on the SeaHawks side during the second half) didn’t have anything to do with it...

he’s a top-notch guy, on the field and off... impressive all around... whenever his football career is said and done, he will move on to other greater things... he reminds me a bit of Steve Young... more to him than football... forget the liberal media... not RGIII’s fault (and i realize you’re not faulting him for some in the media gushing over him)...

I hope this doesn’t turn out like the Ickey Wood’s situation who also blew out his knee if I recall correctly.

This is why I usually dismiss any highly touted QB who comes out of the college ranks with a reputation for being a strong, mobile QB. In almost every case, they are either not cut out for the NFL game or are destined for a very short NFL career due to injury.

Mobile, agile quarterbacks are so overrated in the NFL, anyway. John Elway's Broncos lost three Super Bowls by lopsided margins when he was in his prime and was a complete all-around athlete. They won two Super Bowls when he was a faded old veteran and wasn't running around very much.

RGIII will never be the same.

Do you remember Elway's highlight-reel run against Green Bay in the Super Bowl?

It was clearly obvious to anyone watching the last 3 quarters of the game that RG3 should have been taken out of the game, not only to protect him from further injury but because he couldn’t do what was needed.

It’s not hard for a defense to stop an offense that has no functional QB.

Mcnabb only dreams of being as accurate a passer as RG3(when FG3 is healthy), and THAT is the big difference.

But please, keep with the skin color only rant, it’s really telling.

Yeah, I saw it. It was inspiring, but he looked like a 37 year-old quarterback who ran a 40-yard dash in about 5.2 seconds.

Elway actually ran for a TD against the Giants in Super Bowl XXI. They lost that game, and it wasn't even as close as the 39-20 score would indicate.

That 8 yard run for a first down, where he put his 37 year old body on the line, was the inspiration for the Bronco victory.
