Putnam County clerk refuses to release names of gun owners to the paper who published names of gun owners on a map.
Megan Kelly is going to interview him. Discussing now after the clerk gave a news conference stating he may be breaking the law by not releasing names; but that it was wrong to to so and he was there to protect the people of Putnam County. His first name is Dennis; but didn’t catch last name. Trying to work and catch this at the same time.
We need to stand by our own.
Publish the names, addresses, telephone numbers, and any other public information (criminal records, bankruptcy, lawsuits, divorce) about the publishers and staff instead.
How about someone at that newspaper explain exactly what the purpose of this is. Don’t be shy now, go ahead an let your inner-commie bastard step right up.
Funny part is that stories like this actually INSPIRE some of us to buy more guns and ammo!
It doesn’t matter if they release info....The one’s to be concerned with are those who already have the info.
Putnam County where? Ohio, New York, Illinois, California?
Publish the names and address of everyone who has had an abortion. People have a right to know who has exercised their 4th Amendment rights too...
I wonder too.
I don’t know why I continue to be astounded by the left. THEY demand privacy on everything else, but not something like this. This paper deserves to be deluged with complaints about this. The County Clerk deserves praise for standing up.
How about publishing all the names of those on Welfare, that have HIV or bounced a check?
One receives funds from Taxpayers, one is a potenial health threat and the other is a criminal....
Seeing as how the released info was done in a newspaper from Westchester County NY, would kind of figure this Putnam County is also in NY, as it is in the same ‘general area’ of Southern Tier of NY.
Sorry, just coming in on Fox:
Officials in Putnam County say they will reject a newspaper’s (The Journal News - published names on map of gun owners in Weschester and Rockland County)request to release the names and addresses of residents with pistol permits.
County Clerk Dennis Sant said officials were meeting Wednesday to discuss legal options. He states that The Journal may have the legal right; but he thinks it’s wrong and doesn’t want to be responsible for someone in Putnam County being harmed by releasing the info.
Putnam County NY.
This is a brave man.
Convictions are useless unless you stand up for them.
....now we’re going to get stories about the evil government violating Freedom of Press....
I have heard on local radio stations that Putnam County will be sued and fined for every day they do not comply with the freedom of information request.
That’s awful!
It just seems that we can’t win any more with anything.
If there ever was a reason to withhold information for security and safety reasons this is one of those. To direct criminals to those who have guns is flat out criminal. There is no benefit to the public. When the media ceases its need to fuel public emotion and get back to ‘reporting’ news not being the news, they may regain some integrity and respect.
Sounds like Mr. Sant has a good understanding of the difference between legal and lawful:
Now consider "Roe v. Wade".
Legal and unlawful.
Your maps are on too small a scale.
Your pins are too large.
There are many more people in NYC getting taxpayer paid abortions.
I expect that this will not happen. This is so grotesquely stupid that NYS will have to make the information private. All the county needs to do is stonewall a while.
You are almost certainly correct. Those willing to risk an armed home invasion would love to have this news - the houses to avoid.
These evil people published the names and addresses of gun owners, and revealed, by omission, those folks who don’t own guns.
If I lived in that county, and my house was burgled, whether I had a gun or not I would sue the Journal. They did, with malice aforethought, publish information they hoped would be detrimental to the safety and well-being of innocent, law-abiding people. It’s the same thing as yelling FIRE in a crowded theater or something.
It doesn’t pass the “reasonable person” standard.
Your pins are too large.
There are many more people in NYC getting taxpayer paid abort
>>>
This isn't NYC. Its a map of Rockland, Westchester and Putnam Counties which are among the most affluent counties in the country. For what its worth I thought it was very funny.
at first, I was alarmed at the disclosure.
Now, I’m thinking a little different.
Let them publish the addressees. Those are the houses that are LESS likely to be broken into because the owner is armed. So, if you want to try to break into my house, you will certainly leave feet fist.
BANK ON IT
American Thinker interviewed some of the folks on the first map. One was a retired cop who had received death threats in the past from criminals he’d put away. They may have been too stupid or lazy - maybe didn’t even know it was possible - to find his address. The “news” scumbags just ‘fixed’ that.
There is NOTHING innocuous about what this “news”paper did.
I’m not thinkin even a little bit different...
Thank you.
