Rooooollll Tidddddde!

Terry Saben was right. The pressure to win almost overcomes the “Joy of Victory”. There are prolly as many “Barners” (Auburn fans), as Notre Dame fans hoping for a victory.

Bama did not play in the SEC Championship game last year, and they beat the SEC team that did. LSU fans would say that Bama had the advantage. An extra game means an extra bit of wear and tear on the bodies of student athletes. Bama’s Center has yet to practice for the BCS Championship game due to injury sustained during the SEC Championship game. Will he play? If he doesn’t, will the freshman backup be able to step in and fill that hole?

No, I understand. But in years past, people have wondered that because the SEC had a 'extra' game they were more prepared.

Dunno, perhaps that was only against Ohio State and Oregon.

I was at the 1992 Sugar Bowl - Alabama against #1 Miami and many of the Miami crowd were wearing similar T-shirts. The rest is history. ROLL TIDE

I agree with ESPN’s Mark May about the playoffs. He has no love for the current BCS but states that people are going to like the replacement even less.

I disagree with Mark May. Every college football fan that I've talked to is eagerly looking forward to when the playoff system starts.

There is this little thing called first semester final examinations. At Notre Dame, at least, we have student athletes.

GO IRISH!!!!!

I’m not sure why you’re addressing this to me. Did I say something to disparage ND? I am a life long Notre Dame fan. My son was accepted there, but decided to go to Duke. My point, from strictly a football standpoint, is that it is very difficult for these players to play at a high level if they have to go a month, or more, without playing a real game. Trust me, I fully understand, and agree with the issues pertaining to academic requirements. Although, I have to wonder, and I have heard this from some ND alumni, if part of the deal in bringing Kelly in was for ND to “relax” at least their entrance requirements a bit. Even if they did, I’m sure their academic standards are still much higher than these big public universities.

Cornelius Bennett was an animal. I loved watching him play. How he got drafted behind Testaverde, I’ll never know. But he had an instinct for the football that was unparalleled. He is one of the greatest middle linebackers to ever play the game.
