On the last play in regulation, Brett Hundley connected with wide receiver Logan Sweet on a 34-yard scoring pass to make the score a little-more-respectable 49-26 Baylor advantage.

Hold on there! The Baylor coach made a valiant effort to call time out and get a review, but this went by the boards. The ESPN live coverage showed the replay, and he was nowhere near scoring. Down at the two. But, you know ... UCLA ... California ... my perennial complaint. Of course, Baylor still showed them, didn't they? Unranked!

To update what I posted on the Tim Tebow thread:

Baylor, a private Southern Baptist university from the free state of Texas, headed by Ken Starr, absolutely humiliated UCLA in the Holiday Bowl. I always enjoy seeing a liberal, government-run indoctrination center from California getting schooled by Texans by a final of 49-26.

And, with apologies to the FR founder/owner/boss, the Hawaii Bowl was also a treat when a Dallas private school (with a Christian heritage), Southern Methodist University stunned the state run school of Fresno, 43-10.

This has been a good football year for the Lone Star State so far with Johnny Manziel winning the Heisman, making it two-in-a-row for Texans taking the hardware home.

Baylor beat UCLA like a rented mule. It was painful for me to watch and I despise the Bruins and everything in LA.

Yes, the Big 12 that is 10 had 9! bowl-eligible squads this year. Baylor won, so lets see how all the rest do.

Of what importance is that subject to the focus of this thread? As I see it in terms of topicality, the key thing in terms of this "UCLA vs. Baylor" discussion is that a team from a Conservative, private, Southern Baptist university in Waco headed by Kenneth Starr beat players representing an extremely liberal, state-run school run by the Regents of California.

You're the one who posted, "This has been a good football year for the Lone Star State".

I love seeing clean football programs with high academic standards and graduation rates do well. I wish there were more of them.

Well knock me over with a feather. I checked and it's him [Kenneth Starr].

Along with Roy Orbison, the town of Vernon, Texas was the home of Kenneth Starr, a true scholar, a fine gentleman and a committed Christian. Although he's church of Christ, there are sufficient similarities with Southern Baptists (especially in terms of a Conservative outlook and traditional cultural values) that he's a good fit at Baylor.

I think FReepers reading this this thread will enjoy Starr's Christmas Card. There's no equivocation in his greeting, instead unabashedly wishing all a joyous Christmas.

Aha. But I think I'm going to have to review your "despise the Bruins and everything in LA" credentials :-)

That doesn’t address the question posed; What’s the graduation rate for Texas state university football players?
***********************************
Texas State Univ. (TSU) is located in San Marcos, North of the Austin area.

I Googled their site but could not find anything addressing the graduation rates of the school.

Why are you interested in the graduation rate for football players at TSU?

Why don't you look it up yourself? You're the one who thinks he has a point to make.

Post your findings, then compare the graduation rate with the graduation rate of football players from state universities nationwide.

Waste your own time.

Already have. UT Austin is an embarrassment, as are you.

I for the life of me can’t understand why it is that some people feel compelled to jump into a thread with some off the wall notion and turn a good discussion into a pissing match. It happens way too much on FR.

Hmmmmm...you can't differentiate TSU football players and Texas state university football players?
