Isn't it time for Mayor Bloomberg to ban subways and be done with this senseless slaughter of innocent life?

At least keep them under ten cars. Anything more than that is an assault train.

Every time I await a train in a NYC subway station I make a conscious effort to stay away from the tracks to avoid just such a fate.

The poor guy.
When I used subways regularly I always stayed back against the wall until the train pulled in.

Have we all forgotten the fact that we can implement safety locks on these trains?

I take the 6 train from 86th to 14th everyday. I’ve been hyper aware since the first one happened.
In fact, in Union Square, there are almost ALWAYS insane muttering people on the platform, I even saw personally, one push a random woman once. She was leaning on the post so she didn’t fall forward and there was no train coming though.
This is getting out of hand. Lock these freakin’ sickos up, pronto.
If not, people, like me, are just going to start punching these whackos out when they present themselves in dangerous situations, which in the city can be anything really. Even standing on the sidewalk; they could just push you into traffic.
Why there is a pandemic of these f’ing sickos going about trying to commit per-meditated murder is strange, though.
Scary times. Glad I’m moving back to the burbs in July after 10 years!!! Can’t come soon enough. LOOOOONG gone are the days of the pretty, safe, affluent, Rudy G., NYC.

Tall fences on all subway platforms all over the country, with gates controlled by the train operator.
Mandatory, with huge fines for stations that do not comply or fences that don't meet federal and UN safety standards.
It does not matter how much it costs, it's for the safety of our children.
Only big government can save us.

A relative of mine works for the NY Metro. At subway stations or train platforms he makes a habit of not standing too close and then he faces away from the incoming train to make sure no cretin from hell tries such a deed.

NYC subway users will now be required to press themselves against the subway station walls as the train approaches. Only after the train stops and the doors open can they rush to board ... this is a sick demented society. Really.

True words. I can literally see it coming to that.
Lock up the crazies, NOW.
Lock up the crazies should be a campaign slogan.

The woman, whom the police described as Hispanic, in her early 20s and heavyset, fled and was being sought by all police officers in the area.Sounds like an Obama voter to me.
