I could use some advice on the purchase of a concealed carry holster, but I have some major physical disabilities.

A pocket holster and one of Kahr’s small 9mm or 40s would be just right with some suspenders.

If you end up wearing a heavy coat, just put the rig in your coat pocket as mentioned above. Fully loaded, the Kahrs are only 16 ounces , easy on the pocket.

Shoulder holsters do not lend themselves to a lot of different clothing styles.

A friend once told me just carry a grenade. When you pull the pin, no one shoots. They all run, he said.

I like the pocket holster. Ruger LCP .380 fits perfectly. You can get some pretty potent rounds for the dimunitive little pistol these days.

I’ll second that. I have mine in a pocket holster inside my vest right now. I have tested a lot of ammo and am sold on Critical Defense. The LC9 isn’t much bigger.

I have a vest from the link at #5. I love it for concealed carry.

Good site, some nice gear.

HOWEVER, that book bag armor is pretty much a waste of money.

IF the kids were carrying BOOKS in their BOOK BAG, it would serve the same purpose.

Just a thought.....

I own two Galco shoulder rigs and while they are pricey, the quality is very good.

The Galco Jackass and Miami Classic are both excellent shoulder rigs and either would meet your reuirements, but the best by far is the Andrews Monarch by Andrews Custom Leather. They aren't cheap, but they are worth what you'll spend.

Good luck!

My vote is (1) overalls with a pocket inside the center top, against your chest, or (2) vest with pockets inside the right side so your left hand can grab it.

There are shoulder holsters for left-handers, but I believe a vest or overalls, especially, will give you faster access.

A smaller gun will give you quicker access, too. A small 9mm on like Ruger LP9, or Kahr CM9. Practice with cheap round nose and keep expensive “self-defence” ammo for carry. 9mm practice ammo is cheaper than .380 ammo.

Since you will have lots of pockets with overalls or vest, also carry the Kimber Guardian Angel Pepper Blaster II Pepper Spray Gel 10% OC, shown here at
- MidwayUSA http://www.midwayusa.com/Product/344219/kimber-guardian-angel-pepper-blaster-ii-pepper-spray-gel-10-pct-oc-red (they charge a lot for shipping)
- Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Pepper-LA98001-Kimber-PepperBlaster-Red/dp/B003L75SSI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1356327362&sr=8-1&keywords=kimber-guardian-angel-pepper-blaster-ii-pepper-spray .
Between these two sites you have 100 very positive comments to read. It’s good to have another option before drawing your gun.

Write if you have questions.

You don’t need all that stuff. Haven’t you been listening to the enlightened democraps? Just pint and cut out for personal carry a ‘Personal Gun Free Zone’ label and display it if you feel you’re in a threatening environment!

Check out the offerings from Ken Null.

www.klnullholsters.com

I swear his shoulder carry is the BEST I’ve found.....and I tried a bunch before I found his to hide a GP-100 5 1/2.

Second these. Use them all the time. Not only are they very professional looking, they are very functional. I have carried everything from Taurus Slim 9 to Sig P226 40s in them.

Granted these type Derringers have a lower capacity, but they can have larger caliber than 9mm. One model can selectively fire:

45 Colt/.410 Shot Shell(rifled)
.357 MAG/.38 Spl
.45 ACP
.45 Colt, Only
.45 Glock Auto
.44 Special
44-40 Winchester
.40 S&W

So the question becomes: more bullets, or fewer but bigger ones?

Thank you so very much for all the terrific advice! There are too many responses here for me to answer and still get into work on time. But as usual, Free Republic comes through with great advice and humor.

May I wish All my FRiends a very merry Christmas, and a happy, healthy, and safe new year!

Sincerely,

Mark

For me it is easy, a pistol that delivers 7, 9mm at less weight than a 2 shot derringer.

A situation where I am afraid to engage with a 9mm semi-automatic, is usually unlikely to be improved by having a 2 shot derringer instead.

Kind of beside the point, but I had a colectomy last summer. They were able to hook my plumbing back up but I lost enough weight that I can now hide a full sized duty pistol under my shirt.

Good luck with your health.
