What I did at Ole Miss had nothing to do with going to classes. My objective was to destroy the system of white supremacy.

Ole Miss kicked my butt and they're still celebrating. Because every black that's gone there since me has been insulted, humiliated, and they can't even tell their story. Everybody has to tell James Meredith's story — which is a lie. The powers that be in Mississippi understand this very clearly. See, I've been telling them for fifty years how insulting it is to me to suggest that I had to be courageous to confront some ignorant white folks. And recently, they told me they really understand, but they're gonna keep doing it. I can't figure a way to make 'em stop. They're gonna keep on doin' it because it makes it impossible for the blacks there now to say anything about what's happened to them. Because the comparison is with the idol.

These sentiments may be conservative. I'm not really sure.

What I am clear on is that they're incoherent.

Has every black that's gone to Ole Miss in the last 60 years really be insulted and degraded?

I don’t think Michael Oher falls into that category

Sounds like they might have had to "confront some ignorant white folks". It's possible they'd be insulted to have it suggested that took any particular courage, so they may not be all that concerned with not getting to "tell their story" about it.

I don’t know if Mississippi has white racists insulting Blacks on campus. I doubt that. Lawsuits.

I know that every college campus has a whole new doctrine of race hate - diversity - insulting and dehumanizing the white race. I know white children are being racially attacked by diversity racists and no one cares just like they did not care when James Meredith was in school.

Racism is alive and well thanks to liberals.

I suspect you’re right. I certainly wouldn’t want to try harassing him.

Somebody post the Sports Illustrated magazine cover from September 1962, just for giggles.

Didn't care?

There's an entire book about what Meredith had to endure from fellow students and others while he 'was in school' at Ole Miss.

I should have said written then, as in how this article was written, which presumably, was based on what he SAID. Meredith, that is.

Elliptical is a good word for it. I would think the college educated could write and speak a clear sentence.

If people had cared about racial hate and violence, the haters would have been shut down and James would have been safe.

In that way, people did not care about racial violence back then and they don’t care about the Left’s new and improved racial hatred and violence against whites now.

It’s a huge disappointment to me. That we still have people in power stoking race meaning, division, hatred and it’s ensuing violence, breaks my heart. I despise racism in all it’s configurations and rationalizations. We must “progress” to love one another and reject skin deep meaning and divisions as a basis of power in this country.

He was a vet, having served in the USAF from 1951-1960.

That he was a serving veteran and active supporter of Republican ideals is a very comforting thought. Thanks.

Then don't read this article. Read several of the many other books and articles over the years

Read about the battle between on how Ole Miss intended to (incorrectly) display Meredith's story to its benefit, without consulting Meredith, or while ignoring Meredith's comments.. Read on how Ole Miss has treated Meredith.

"There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs. There is a certain class of race-problem solvers who don't want the patient to get well." Booker T Washington

The above quote applies to a lot of race baiting white liberals today also.

He doesn't say anything... satan speaks through him. Ever notice how nancy pelosi and harry reid speak the most heinous and evil remarks ever heard from the floor of either chamber? There is a reason for that. All of their talking points are faxed in from 666.

No it wasn't. I live in Mississippi and I was the first generation to integrate. We never had any problems in our school system. This guy has turned into an America hating radical since those days. When you are coddled and praised by the left... then that evil just infects one through osmosis. 99.9% of the racism in Mississippi today resides in the black community in the Delta region. That is also where stolen elections and dimrat corruption is rampant. THAT is not a coinkydinky.

It took Mississippi sixteen years and two U.S. Supreme Court rulings to desegregate its public school systems.
