A Brooklyn mom of three was fatally gunned down this morning by a passerby as she stood right behind Brookdale Hospital -- where her 8-year-old daughter was undergoing treatment for an asthma attack.
The apparently motiveless killing stunned the family of 32-year-old victim Shalema Gaskin -- and left them demanding answers about why someone targeted her.
"This is a hospital!" said Tanya Gaskin, 50, the victim's mom. "We come here for help -- not to have our people killed right outside."

She had two other children: a 5 year-old and an 18 year-old.
So, the article mentions “the child’s father”, not the victim’s husband. A very sad situation underlying an unfortunate killing.
I should have read the rest of the article first...
“...She was rushed into the hospital, but later died there. In addition to Saniyah, Gaskin left behind two other daughters — an 18-year-old and a five-year-old.
“our people” probably did it for kicks. just lost my sympathy with that inane statement
“Wow, she blames everthing but the perp....no cameras, no secutiry, not a single luxury....”
Lawsuit time, don’cha know.
I believe that the upcoming investigation will reveal that she held a 32oz soda in her right hand.
You need say no more. Sounds like a problem peculiar to a particular culture.
She worked for immigration services for a while, it said. This could have been a revenge hit from some illegal who’d been watching her.
What was my mom doing in NY?
Feminine of Schlemiel?
our people...? how about just people?
I’m guessing a gang hit on whitey. Black thug racism. They are “progressing” to white women the last couple of weeks.
