A wheelchair-bound man from Virginia who says he rarely bowled before he was paralyzed from the waist down, has bowled a perfect game.

George Holscher, 48, of Chesapeake, was paralyzed in a car crash when he was 25.

"When my doctor told me I'd never walk again, that was the worst 5 minutes of my life. And that's about as long as I let it last," Holscher said.

Since his accident, Holscher said he started playing a number of sports -- including wheelchair basketball, tennis and billiards -- The (Norfolk) Virginian-Pilot reported.

He stuck with bowling, and when he rolled his perfect game Nov. 26, he became the second person ever to bowl 300 from a wheelchair.

"I know I said I can't feel my knees, but let me tell you, they were weak," Holscher said of how he felt after bowling a 300.

"When you're on a streak like that, the whole house gets quiet," Holscher said. "Everyone else stops bowling. It gets tense."

Congratulations to this man. I used to bowl often with friends of the family, as well in a league for kids. Being consistent isn’t easy, doubly so when you’re skinny and not strong.

Great attitude...
I lost a leg...When the doc came in and told me what he had to do, I said, “Get the right one...If you cut off the wrong one, I’m really gonna be pissed...”

Very cool. However, this woman in a wheelchair is not so cool. Or very smart.

I guess that Hoverround doesn’t take her where she wants to go.

Just came back from 4 days at Disney Florida.
Saw more electric scooters in 4 days than in my entire 64 year lifetime.
Not “crippled” people, but grossly obese who can’t walk. The numbers are unbelievable. Every time you get on a shuttle bus it takes 10 minutes for the driver to strap these things down to the floor.

Now that takes strength & coordination.

Not your normal bowler's arm swing.

And to repeat it 12 times is awesome.

Can’t get on the rides at Disney with those things. I guess they enjoy watching their kids and grand kids?

I think I would rather wheel up to a pool, belly flop in and swim to the poolside bar.

No, they drive up to the ride, park the scooter, dismount, and waddle in.
These folks aren’t handicapped in the traditional sense.

I had no idea such a huge part of the population was like this.
