Well, yesterday I discussed a liberal website called Outside Asylum, and my experience with it. For me, the best websites for political discussion are neither conservative or liberal, but unbiased. There's nothing more boring then talking to like minded people, but a website that can have a dialog between opposing minds without resorting to name calling. I found a huge website that everybody should know about, it covers everything from your hometown and state, science, religion and politics. As long as you follow their rules, you can have a good entertaining discussion. I use a different monikar there, but it's a good place to go. http://www.city-data.com/forum/#u-s-forums

For anyone who knows how to express himself, and procure the level of discourse he needs to unburden himself of the political stresses of the day, Free Republic reigns supreme and has for 15 years. Yes, it’s “conservative”, but there is a great deal on FR that is “non-political” also.
I haven’t bothered with any other sites for a long long time, but when I do follow up on a link that may have appeared here on FR, to Huffington Post, or wherever, and bother to read
their posts and replies, it just confirms how great FR is.
I will check out the one you recommend, though.
Are discussions about the virtues of Cheese allowed?
No intention of going there, sounds like another site where the main question is “Can’t We All Just Get Along” or “I’m OK, Your OK”.

Well, found a little on Cheese, but I don’t see any pictures. Think I will remain here for now. Cheese discussions without pictures are on par with “Hit It” discussions without Laz.
I visited your recommended website city-data.com , for a good five minutes, and went immediately to my state’s area (New Jersey)First thread I saw posted there was titled “How much do you tip furniture delivery guys?”
It’s nice to know someone is dealing with issues that us pansies on FR consider “TOO HOT TO HANDLE”.
This city-data site looks like a good example of something so
vague, general, generic, so “all things to all people”, that it winds up being “not much of anything to anyone”.
A website is just a website, but FR has evolved under the stewardship of the great JimRob into the most influential, oft-quoted,fearless and “purpose-driven” website out there.
It will ALWAYS be so!
I used to love visiting political boards/chat rooms to fight with leftwingers. Then I grew up, and I realized that getting down in the dirt with those pigs was griming me up, too.
If talking with like-minded people is so boring, I don’t even know why you’re here to begin with.

Usually, the trolls come in and toss a few canards coupled with insults aimed at conservatives.

I agree with many here.. I don’t argue with trolls, and name callers.. I used to frequent a few musician forums and I got quite bored with arguing with lefties..

The only political discussion worth participating in is to determine the best method for skinning the skunk and getting rid of the smell of the critter who snuck into our White House. And now, because we didn’t skin the sucker soon enough, he now has the support of over half of the other critters in the country and I fear we’ll have to re-build some new buildings and taking great care in installing a mess of critter-proof doors.
... and those are just some of the benefits of an all-cheese diet.

What can be better than FR? It’s user-friendly, supports HTML, and is free of profanity and trolls.
Best to get your own blog and start blogging and just don’t censor or delete your own stuff. All sites have their own brand of pc, do develop your own!

Be careful, it’s REAL easy to get banned there. Not the same freedom of speech we enjoy here at FR.
I didn’t say the posters are unbiased, infact they are very biased. It’s just fun arguing with them. It’s the moderators that are unbiased. They let you argue without banning you if you don’t resort to insults and name calling or breaking website rules.
Another fun website is sodahead.com. They take a poll on different current issues and let you go at it with your comments. The problem is, much of it is on celebraties which can get really silly.

Today you’re suggesting another website besides FR to discuss politics. These kinds of suggestions get the PTBs upset because FR is the premium place to post politics on the web.

I still debate at Intrade. It is the least biased platform because their focus is on making money from contracts rather than ideology.

However, their ownership has exhibited genuine bias in the past, at one point even criticizing a poster who spoke ill of Obama. At least he was open about his bias — he died last year climbing Mount Everest. In addition, Intrade is going through a major upheaval by pulling out of the US market due to regulation.
So, what you’re seeking does not exist. You might consider starting your own version of America’s Debate.

Or something else? What are you saying? Now that you’ve seen some of the response to what you’ve said, are you backtracking a little? Just be up front and real, no need to be cagey.
First of all, there isn’t another site out there that compares to Free Republic. This is a safe haven amid the liberal lunacy that surrounds us, a place where conservative principles and love of God and country are revered and exalted. Talking to liberals? I’ve waded over into the DU sewer. Aside from being godless and delusional, it’s not enjoyable or interesting. Freepers are generally well informed on a wide range of subjects, and are also hilarious. I learned alot about issues, government, and history by lurking here for a decade before signing on nine months ago. Just watch, listen, and learn. This place is full of amazing people who share our conservative values.
