Apart from the fact that not all violent crimes result in fatalities, any comments?

Been several years since there was a murder in my township and at least 40 years since there was one here in town.

New York has a murder free day

Yeah, except for the hundreds of abortions in NYC each day. And except for who knows how many sick people are killed in NYC hospitals each day through the denial of basic necessities like hydration, nutrition and antibiotics. Other than that, everything’s going great.
"Some experts are praising the New York police department's aggressive crime-prevention tactics, notably the so-called Stop And Frisk policy, which has rooted out dozens of illegal guns.
But critics argue that it has led to hundreds of thousands of young blacks and Latinos being stopped without cause."
Seems like getting illegal weapons away from likely lawbreakers has probably helped to reduce crime more than the mayor's ban on large sodas.

Jerry Bruckheimer is deeply saddened. You can't support three CSI shows if crime stops. No one will watch CSI: Office Chair Races (but they might get some nice blood splatter and DNA evidence if they don't wear helmets).

...actually Bloomberg has done a GREAT JOB with regard to crime, picking up where Rudy left off. We may hate him because he’s a nanny-leftist in other areas, which he is, but he’s help make New York City SAFER than many states in this country and nearly every other large city.

Did suicides take a sudden jump? Did accidental deaths increase? No murders for a whole day? Come on N.Y.! Quit tossing the bodies over the line into N.J.

Unfortunately, this is not good news.
It actually means that some scumbag drug dealer didn’t get killed by another scumbag drug dealer and gets to live another day.
They probably changed the standards ala unemployment figures. Black-on-Black or Black-on White not counted, but White on anyone is counted. Expect a few more “murderless” days in the future and NYC will try to change its name to Philadelphia...
