Because I had no thought of our security - why? Because I didn't think past “our” problem. I was zeroed in on “our” problem, not “others’” problems. I expected the highway to be as usual, not crowded. That was a big mistake. I didn't think past “us”.
That is a valuable lesson. There are others on this planet, in your town. If something affects you, will it affect others and what might they do? I never considered that.
We do not live in a vacuum - the world is out there when we step outside - don't forget to consider what your world will be like outside if you dare leave.
We’re about an hour and a half from Louisville and I absolutely love that town. It’s like Seattle but without the traffic, lower prices and friendly (as opposed to “polite”) people.
We really enjoy the Highlands and just discovered Mellow Mushroom on Shelbyville road this weekend. Better than Chico’s pizza in Moses Lake, Washington.
And the beer? Holy cow! Puts Seattle to shame. That was a real surprise.
What part of KY?
The part featured in the book, “Cornbread Mafia”. We just discovered that a few months ago and read the book about a month ago. The guy that does my wife’s hair said he used to do business with “them”.
After the first few incidents, where police protection has broken down, there will be snipers watching the roads and prepared to take out anybody who looks "inner city".
Favorite places of mine include the Irish Rover and Jefferson Mall. The twin malls out on Shelbyville Road were usually too yuppie for me.
I went and bought an older snowmachine and its trailer yesterday, actually I just wanted the trailer for my motorcycles but the sled came with it.
Not a bad deal for up here in Alaska where we have 6 months of winter, snow and frozen lakes. Its a 1990 Polaris Indy 500, runs good and overall in good shape. Has a hitch so I can pull a sled or toboggan full of gear.
For a full bugout first off would be a portable ice fishing hut, they sell for under $200 at Walmart, they allow you to stand up and withstand some pretty good winds, makes a great emergency shelter. Much easier than a simple tent.
And then is a catalytic heater and sleeping gear, air mattress will insulate better than a foam pad.
If a tits up situation were to occur I’ll just head out into the bush, follow a river route, and I’ll bring along my prospecting gear, oh and I just bought a solar charger and battery device to recharge my phone and Kindle. Love that Kindle.
I just had dinner at molly malone’s on bardstown in the Highlands. Normally I love their stuff but the bangers and mash were only so-so.
“I highly recommend going Galt. It can be done.”
We have gone Galt, in place. We have a secure location, and we do not plan to ‘escape’...we are where we should be when the SHTF. We are continuing to prep here and to secure the place. We will be ready...
