It's hard to have a record of accomplishment when your specialty is producing nullities.

Gee, running late going where going everyday here lately. Late again. Being late does not make one up to speed. Dark, may need some of that coffee. Sounds like it would reeve up the old engine. ROAR ... ROAR once went the engine! Where did that mouse in me come from. Squeak, Squeak. The sound of shoes on the floor. So sorry for being late.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Sg! Will make a definitive attempt to extract the recipe. Would not want anyone to have to go up against this, the middle child, but a family member. If come back missing body parts, will know was unsuccessful. Am taking backup and a four wheel drive in case have to make a quick exit.

Sg, t'was successful. Grandchild intervened and wrote it down. Will have a little later for placement on screen.

Am typing it down, and checking it twice, want to make sure I've got it copied down right, Chocolate Delight is coming to thread. It will add pounds to the waist and hips, it tastes oh so good, want to make certain, these facts are understood. Oh, keep a watch, recipe will be up soon, am taking no blame if one makes, eats, and then balloons, Chocolate Delight is coming to screen.

Must be having relapses on this side of screen, Sg. Am in Christmas spirit early.

Saw your ping in “new pings” and got scared that I was typing in sleep again. Went to latest articles first instead of pings and got scared because of scary articles. Conclusion: It is dangerous to one’s peace of mind to go anywhere other than UT first thing in the morning. Mental note to govern stupid fingers more carefully prior to second cup of coughee. BTW, did you see anything about a deer breaking into someone’s home on Thanksgiving? Darks, have you given samples to the deer?
Congrats re: getting recipe w/o mayhem! Maybe grandchild belongs in mediation? Must be skilled grandchild!
Morning, y’all!

Glad it’s you. Was scared here too. Think you are right about going to other than UT thread. Went out and typed obama’s fault on another thread. It is just sitting there, and thread is not moving. Scary! Didn’t hear about the deer. If had happened at middle child’s place, that deer would have been shot, gutted, and prepared for Christmas. Grandchild is great. Looks out for the old ones, if one pays cash.

They were effective?
Oh dear, those poor deer.

Have you seen Fennie today? Fennie may be doing another information gleam, though not certain. Fennie is back in Breaking and not issuing any opinions.

Editor-Surveyor ‘splained it pretty well; now I beg leave to be pedantic.

“CMOS” Stands for Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor, and is the basic way that almost all low-power ICs are made.

So somewhere on your motherboard is a small-capacity RAM (Random Access Memory) chip which holds various setup data for your PC. Usually you don’t havee to be concerned with it, unless you’re a geek. The full description of this little memory is “CMOS static RAM.” Somewhere nearby is a small coin-shaped cell in a holder, which can sustain that memory chip’s contents for years. This makes it by definition “non-volatile.”

In contrast, your computer’s gigabytes of main memory, while also in CMOS technology, are “dynamic” RAM. This type is volatile, meaning that its contents are lost when the computer is turned off.

Why not have the main RAM be of the static type? Because the individual cells of static RAM are much larger than those of the dynamic type; a gigabyte of nonvolatile CMOS RAM would be prohibitively expensive, unless you’re NASA.

Why not have a battery big enough to hold up the contents of the main dynamic RAM during power off, and dispense with the static RAM? Because it would take too much power for extended power-off periods. Thus, the mix of a little static RAM and a whole lot of dynamic RAM has been the norm for laptops for a long time. (This paradigm has shifted with the advent of smarphones and tablets.)

Colloquially, in PC circles the nonvolatile static CMOS RAM is simply called “the CMOS,” even though the main, dynamic RAM is also technically CMOS.

I hope that my dilatory clarification has not had the vexing side effect of making the subject completely incomprehensible.

Middle child sounds marvelous w/exception of being secretive about chocolate delight recipe. If it involves, four layers w/a crust and cream cheese, will throw myself out window. (Window is four feet above terra firma.)

Der Prinz when to the University of Tennessee to become a geek.

Thank you, Erasmus, for the explanation. I kind of understood it a little bit! I still don’t know if all the games are gone, because I haven’t let #3 daughter use the computer since the Deletion occurred.
