A couple of things I just realized:

1) The two most ominous dates in recent US History are the same, flipped upside down:

• 11/6
• 9/11

2) It's always such a bittersweet story, when someone finds an ancient bag of US Mail that was misplaced 70 years ago, and they track down the intended recipients' kids or grandkids, and deliver it, and it's full of love letters exchanged between sweethearts, him in uniform in Europe or the Pacific, and her keeping the home fires burning and staying loyal to him, and their descendants read the letters together with laughter and tears.

And I thought, how tragic! that seventy years from now when they find a bag of mail from 2012 and deliver it to our grandkids, it'll be overflowing with nothing but political flyers screaming about wasteful spending and coat-hanger abortions and greed and hidden conflicts of interest and DUIs in High School and treason and wars on women and secret agendas and unsealed divorce records and on and on and on. And our grandkids will think, "What The Hell???? And someone waited 70 years to proudly deliver this crap to our door??"

You are assuming that there will be a country in which mail is still delivered . . .

I thought for sure you were going to say 70 years from now, they find a large lost mail bag full of absentee ballots.

Or an old rusting ship with a hold full of hundreds of thousands of undelivered ballot-requests from service members to county clerks in certain states such as OH, FL, VA, CO, WI. In other words, just some random list of states with nothing apparently in common.

Correct on them dates. 11-6-12 is as bad a day for America as was 9-11, OR 12-7-41.Maybe worse. We got over them, I’m not sure we can get over this one.
