Amazing how so many of those in the photo are people I teach kids about in science class. It was a golden age of science, all those folks sitting on the doorstep of the atomic age.
Check out the BBC series “The ascent of Man” narrated by mathematician and biologist Jacob Bronowski. You’ll love it...other than his pessimistic attitude toward man’s present disposition toward true science.
