Police Union Defends Dog Shooting

A dog shot and killed by a cop could have been a threat to bite officers. That's the opinion of the Omaha police union president. Our Sister Station WOWT, Channel Six News, first showed the exclusive video of the incident last month.

A man walking the family pet in a search area ignored orders to stop so police arrested him and an officer shot and killed the dog. Omaha Police Union President Sgt. John Wells told Fact Finders, “Based on the video I don’t see that the officers acted inappropriately.”

But the dog owner’s sister takes a different view, “I think the officer was wrong shooting Teela. She wouldn’t hurt anybody.”

Union President Wells said in his opinion the night vision video from a neighbor’s security camera doesn’t tell the whole story. Wells said, “Just seeing the officers immediate reaction its seems to me he back peddled for a second thinking the dog is coming at him and made a split second decision by deciding I have no choice but to put this aggressive dog down.”

The lab retriever mix named Teela had a clean record with the humane society. Chris Schulte, the man walking to family pet claims the officer didn’t have to shoot the dog. Schulte said, “Not threatening, the dog wasn’t being aggressive.”

But the report filed by officers Schuster and Clements stated the dog was aggressive, growled and showed its teeth. The union president points out that officers reported Schulte was arrested for having an open container of alcohol and obstructing police. Officers had the area sealed off to search for a suspect in a shooting. A police canine was being used in the area so the man entering with a pet could be in danger himself. The union president said responsibility for the shooting of the dog rests with the 22 year old man walking the dog, not with officers. Wells said, it’s unfortunate someone’s family pet was killed but officers were left little choice but to protect themselves.”

Omaha Police commanders can’t comment on an internal investigation. Police had told Fact Finders when an officer discharges their weapon while on duty an arduous review takes place.

What is the official statement of the Society of Doberman Admirers?

No doubt Odhinn, CED (Chief Executive Doberman) would care to comment.

They didn’t care about his safety or his rights. They shot the dog to save themselves the trouble of calling animal control. A smart cop would have defused this situation quickly and let the citizen off with a stern warning. They're supposed to be hunting an armed suspect but instead they get sidetracked by this bullsh*t.

The police are often little different than the criminals they interact with, they will do whatever they can get away with. USPS never has to shoot a dog.

They don’t have total immunity. If they threaten and get sent to judgement day I think they will have no immunity from judgement. Last year in Feburary I was awakened at about 4 a.m. by a loud banging and shouting at my door and a powerful flashlight shining through the glass. I was asleep in my undies. I threw on a trench coat, got my short mossy 500 in my left hand under the coat and my 40 cal in the right pocket. The dogs were going crazy. This person had a cop cap on, but I do not care about that at all. I cracked the door at the ready and he was yelling at me about a car stuck in the snow in the road in front of my house. I told him I did not own a car, only the SUV in my driveway. This phuk could have run the license plate, but he had to do this. Had he made even a slight move toward his gun he would have been hamburger. My dogs were doing their job and he was being a threatening jerk. The dogs were really clued in on his aggressiveness which was his fault. If he had made a move at all I had my hand in my pocket on the 40 cal pointed at his head and would have followed up with six 00 buck. Cops really need to consider what they would do if in the same situation and accept that it could happen to them if they don’t act as civil servants, but as tyrants. Because no tyrant deserves a natural death.

Police have become ‘law enforcement’ instead of ‘peace officers’. A very big difference in what those two concepts infer as the job of the police. Law Enforcement is uniformed bureaucratic tyranny, hall monitors with guns and the right to shoot you. Remember the people who were hall monitors in high school.
Power hungry little pukes anxious to trot out their little tin badge and invoke the principle’s authority.

The USPS has three armed forces:
USPS Office of Inspector General (USPSOIG)
United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS)
U.S. Postal Police

You're willing to take it on faith, since it wasn't announced in a formal bulletin from the Ministry of Truth, that they didn't get a share of the new toys, when the federal WEATHER SERVICE, (NOAA) got how many hundreds of thousands of rounds?

I'll wager you actually still believe this is a Republic.

“When these trigger happy thugs are doing an air dance from a handy oak tree, it won’t be from trying to defend an illegal government.”

Trigger Happy
by Weird Al Yankovic

Got an AK-47, well you know it makes me feel alright
Got an Uzi by my pillow, helps me sleep a little better at night
There’s no feeling any greter
Than to shoot first and ask questions later
Now I’m trigger happy, trigger happy every day

Well, you can’t take my guns away, I got a constitutional right
Yeah, I gotta be ready if the Commies attack us tonight
I’ll blow their brains out with my Smith and Wesson
That ought to teach them all a darn good lesson
Now I’m trigger happy, trigger happy every day

(Oh yeah, I’m)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I’m trigger, trigger happy
(Oh baby, I’m)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I’m trigger, trigger happy
(Oh I’m so)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I’m trigger, trigger happy
Better watch out, punk, or I’m gonna have to blow you away

Oh, I accidently shot daddy last night in the den
I mistook him in the dark for a drug-crazed Nazi again
Now why’d you have to get so mad?
It was just a lousy flesh wound, Dad
You know, I’m trigger happy, trigger happy every day

Oh, I still haven’t figured out the safety on my rifle yet
Little Fluffy took a round, better take him to the vet
I filled that kitty cat so full of lead
We’ll have to use him for a pencil instead
Well, I’m so trigger happy, trigger happy every day

(Oh yeah, I’m)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I’m trigger, trigger happy
(Oh baby, I’m)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I’m trigger, trigger happy
(Oh I’m so)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I’m trigger, trigger happy
Better watch out, punk, or I’m gonna have to blow you away

Come on and grab your ammo
What have you got to lose?
We’ll all get liquored up
And shoot at anything that moves

Got a brand new semi-automatic weapon with a laser sight
Oh, I’m prayin’ somebody tries to break in here tonight
I always keep a Magnum in my trunk
You better ask yourself, do you feel lucky, punk?
Because I’m trigger happy, trigger happy every day

(Oh yeah, I’m)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I’m trigger, trigger happy
(Oh baby, I’m)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I’m trigger, trigger happy
(Oh I’m so)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I’m trigger, trigger happy
Better watch out, punk, or I’m gonna have to blow you away

Listen to it here.

I don’t recognize the gutted shell left over from my once proud nation of free moral people.

I think I am done flying my US flag. I am getting to the point where all it does is remind me of the fine nation that no longer exists.

My US flags are folded into cocked hats & will never be flown. Each once covered the coffin of a veteran hero.

This nation has been hijacked.

Shoot a lab. What a vicious dog! Wild and uncontrollable by nature. NOT! I have two black lab grand-dogs, the mellowest, sweetest, most biddable dogs you could wish for. It's their nature.

Hijacked or sold out.

I think we have been sold out to the UN one-world government group. GW Bush was every bit the New World Order globalaist that George Soros is. He may not be evil like Soros, but all of them have sold us out. Daddy Bush was completely in bed with the UN.

The last president we had who didn’t sell us out was Reagan.

I’m seeking verification. President Reagan is famous for saying “Trust, but verify”.

You have no objective evidence to back up this claim? Is it merely a rumor which you have repeated without first verifying its veracity for yourself?

The problem isn’t inability to taze a dog.

The problem is that they relish intimidating law abiding American citizens by the implicit threat made when they shoot a dog.

We’re not dealing with incompetence, but malice.

It is not unreasonable to request a source. You should have simply said that you recalled it from your reading.

Absolutely infuriating. It “could” have been a threat? If a normal person shot a dog and said that, it wouldn’t fly. A cop does it, it’s ok.
