The case of Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash is, as sex scandals sometimes are, poised on the cusp of legally actionable and none of our damn business. (See also Petraeus, David, et al.) Clash, 52, acknowledges having had a relationship with a young man, now 24, while he was over the age of consent. His accuser says it began when he was 16.
Clash has taken a leave of absence from Sesame Street while responding to the allegation. If his lover was under the age of consent, thats a matter for the law. If he was overwhatever you personally think of middle-aged guys dating young men (or women)its between them. Thats where things stand now, as Sesame Workshop has thus far stood by its performer, who has been voicing Elmo for 28 years. (It did reportedly reprimand Clash for personal use of his work e-mail.) And, until someone is proven guilty, thats where it should stay.
But will it? Much as Id like to think people are able to separate a performers personal life from the work, theres a long history of people not wanting to accept the idea of childrens entertainers having sex lives, especially ones that are in any way controversial. As with schoolteachers, some parents need their kids entertainers, not just publicly but privately, to exist in a neuter world of entirely theoretical sexuality.

What makes it our “damn business” is that he and his outfit are subsidized by us. Get them off the dole then we’ll talk about none of my business.
This is the typical hyperbole of the left -- start a paragraph with a reasonable contrast in views, then ahead twenty or thirty steps to an extreme, nonsensical imaginary restriction on sexual pleasure attributed to the right wing.
You were thrown under the bus because Dear Leader was in trouble over Benghazi, and Dear Leader needs to distract everyone.
Petraeus is red meat for the right, you are the other white-meat for the lefties.
and so, the distractions continue.
PS...are Vince Foster and Ron Brown still dead?
Yup, I’m gonna get morality lessons from bottom-O-the-barrel intellect journalism majors.
Next thing, those cretins will be giving me directions about climate change or other things requiring a modicum of IQ.
It’s not controversial, it’s deviant. Homosexual conduct is deviant conduct, and this bell cannot be un-rung. Before it was public, subjectively it didn’t matter because it didn’t exist in the public eye. Now that it IS public, it cannot be ignored, and needs to be called what it is: deviant. And our children and grandchildren should not be exposed to deviant behavior. Ever.
Clash’s defence to the charge that he was a 45-year-old man having sex with a 16-year-old boy is to insist that he was a 46-year-old man having sex with a 17-year-old boy.
Either way, it is reprehensible.
Mr. Clash is what gay’s call a chickenhawk. A chickenhawk preys upon the young. Given the fact that most adult homosexuals report having been molested by an adult male before the age of consent, chickenhawks are responsible for recruiting the bulk of each new generation of homosexual men, and are an integral part of the gay community’s life cycle.
If people can expect to be privy to security details, war and anti-terrorist movements and everything else about the govt that we seem to have and demand a need for, then what’s wrong with this?
Tickle my Elmo?

keep yer Elmo to yersef... jackwagon...
When it crosses either or both lines of "illegal/immoral" and "visibly", then it IS the parents' and public's business, especially when said parents/public is paying their salary; and in the case of entertainers, "inviting them into their homes".
More Pink Journalism in defense of homosexualists who prey upon minors.
The Left said that the prosecution of Roman Polanski for drugged rape and sodomy of a child (13 years old) was none of our damn business either (and the Obama administration dropped extradition efforts, so that would also make them pro-rape... the Democrat war on women continues).
The writer brings up Paul Reuben’s masturbation case in a Florida porno theater. Conveniently ignoring his antique porno collection and owning the house where Jeffery Jones was convicted of molesting a boy.
There are details about Reuben most of the public has been shielded from.
And the original Pee Wee’s Playhouse was an ADULT show (captured on video and aired repeatedly on HBO).
