This sounds like a great film to reverse the roles. Imagine a 2012 drama —a classic about a white worker who won’t play by the liberal man’s condescending rules.

2008/2012 elections remind me more of Putney Swope.

The board of directors of an ad firm had to elect a new boss with the bylaw that no one could vote for himself. Stuck in a position of not wanting to give any of the others support, they all cast their votes for Swope (the lone black employee, in charge of music licensing).
