Anyone know anything about retiring in Costa Rica?

Problem is, Islamists are everywhere. Even Abu Sayaaf in the Philippines. But some of the ladies are cute.
This begs the question.. Anyone think the Socialists will hijack IRA’s in the next four years?

Bottom line - we are on a firm course to destroy the dollar - the world reserve currency.
There are many powerful and influential people that will be there to create a new world currency using the World Bank/UN. It’s not as far fetched as it sounds and my personal opinion (no expertise claimed) is that this will bring about the mark of the beast the bible talks about. You will need this (whatever it is) currency to conduct commerce. The nation that will be most free when this happens (Israel) will also be the most dangerous place to be.
With that said, Costa Rica is a beautiful place with much to offer. The major concern to me would be security. What if America can no longer afford her military and the next Hugo Chavez decides he wants to annex Costa Rica?

Beautiful, friendly country! But...socialized medicine; nationalized telephone service that, while cheap, is not necessarily reliable (gee, you get what you pay for); no military because they “know the U.S. will protect us;” etc., etc., etc.
I have family there and LOVE to visit, but not sure I’d actually want to live there. My cousin and her husband fork out big bucks for private insurance for themselves and their family. They like the coverage and care really well, but...$$$.
Again, beautiful country. Definitely worth considering for retirement!

FR used to mock liberals for huffily threatening to move to France or Canada when an election didn’t go their way.
But if you’re going to be a quitter, why not take the easy path and go hardcore prepper? Just build a hideyhole stocked with C rations and bug out there, or daydream about bugging out there. You get the satisfaction of saying to hell with America without the inconvenience of actually packing up and leaving.
It’s funny how people are so upset about immigrants from Central America, and yet they want to emigrate to Central America. Who do they think lives there, and why do they think the Central Americans want to come here?
I’ll take “Central America sucks” for $200, Alex. But ne zot, I love their food! I could weigh 300 lbs. and die at 55.
