Thanks to Bon of Babble for this one! (poll is half way down in the middle)

FREEP THIS POLL ***PING!*** FRmail me if you want to be added or removed from the Fearless Poll-Freeping Freepers Ping list. (multiple votes using multiple internetz devices are allowed!) And be sure to ping me to any polls that need Freepin', if I miss them. (looks like a medium volume list) (gordongekko909, founder of the pinglist, stays on the list until his ghost signs up for the list)

Guess Dems are still frothing over their 2000 loss.

The electoral college isn’t why Romney lost. The Dems knew what states they needed and manipulated the machines to produce the desired result. No I can’t prove it but think about this:

Romney got 57 million votes on Tuesday and McCain got 60 million votes in 2008. Let me say that again Romney got 57 million votes on Tuesday and McCain got 60 million votes in 2008. Can anyone in their right mind think that is true?

Sorry I’m just not buying it. Undoubtedly there was massive voter machine manipulation going on.

The lack of an “electoral process” is what makes regions of certain states like MD feel like seceding.

I figured when the early votes came in...BECAUSE they knew the affiliation of each ballot....they just kept chucking Repub ballots. It's not hard to beat the system where there is no way to CONFIRM that an early ballot was entered.

In other words, it disappeared BEFORE the day of the actual count.

The 17th amendment was a popular vote amendment for senators and its been a disaster ever since.

They’ve learned to beat the electoral college. I call it herd counting (demographics). Philly is a perfect example. If you don’t have Philly....you don’t have the state.

I think all states should have systems like Nebraska and Maine where two electors are given at large and the rest are given by congressional district. That limits the effect of one area's vote fraud to the two at-large and the one district elector.

I still prefer the system they use in the uk which means that the leader of the party that takes 50%+ of most seats in the House equivalent runs the Govt. Does away with the electoral college and makes the house elections much more important. I’d also make a law that the President must currently hold office, i.e congress, senate or Gov when they run for the Presidency for a time of no less than 4 years. Congress term should be upped to 4 years. If they want to be President, they should be currently elected.

The Senate and then used as a back up to stop or pass the houses bills but can’t write laws.

I’d make the President come once a week to the house to answer congressmen’s questions like the British PM has to do.

Reform is seriously needed in the electoral dept.

No! Absolutely not. The Electoral College is one of the few remaining obstacles to Liberal totalitarianism and destruction of the sovereignty of the States of the Union and the individual voters in those states.

I agree.

Then we could overturn the 17th amendment and let state legislatures choose senators that actually represent their home states.

Yes, terrible.

C. 1900-20 was a terrible time. Lots of little niggling things changed by law, including INCOME TAX. Which I tag the origin of alot of problems.

Who the bloody [long string of very unladylike words] are these [more unladylike words]???

Anti-electoral-college propaganda is spread by the democrats because they want to eliminate our Republic and replace it with what our founders hated with a passion, a democracy, or what more intelligent people call “mob rule.”

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what’s for lunch.

Do you think the U.S. should do away with the electoral college?

Total Votes = 410

Yes I’m an idiot and want to vote myself other people’s money!
215 Votes, or 52.43 %

HELL NO!
195 Votes, or 47.56 %

Yeah, lets dump it so that elections can be entirely decided by the urban areas of the nation (ie the Dems).

Anyone who wants to get rid of the Electoral College needs to go back and read the Founders to understand why it exists.

Yup. Eric Erickson says Romney's Project Orca system crashed and wasn't useable on election day for GOTV. Obama didn't have that problem. TIME had a piece on Obama's IT operation.

The GOP cannot let this happen again.
