Skip to comments.Winter Storm Athena batters the Northeast; Brutus takes aim at Montana

"I am waiting for the locusts and pestilence next, said New Jersey Governor Chris Christie at a press conference on Wednesday, after Winter Storm Athena punished New Jersey with heavy snows, high winds, and a 3-foot storm surge. The storm brought unexpectedly high snowfall amounts along a swath from Central New Jersey northeastwards across Southeast New York, Long Island, Connecticut, and South Central Massachusetts. The 4.7" of snow that fell at New York City's Central Park was the city's earliest 4-inch snowfall on record.
Right on the heels of Winter Storm Athena comes Winter Storm Brutus--a powerful low pressure system that is taking shape over Southern Montana this morning. Light snows have begun in Southwest Montana, and will spread to the northwest across much of Montana and into western North Dakota this afternoon through Saturday. As much as 12 to 18 of snowfall is expected for several major cities in Montana, including Great Falls, and over 2 feet is expected in the mountains.
Since when to winter storms have names? Stupid!
Maybe fat-boy Christie can invite his buddy Obama to NJ again...and they can embrace for the camera.
This guy’s career in the GOP as a national candadite is so over.
We have a mild warm front moving through. I’m calling it Don.
Is Obama visiting again ??
The next storm is called Christy and blows in all directions.
There are no words to express how little I care about New Jersey.
We can learn from Christie. Perhaps he’s a white Republican who can get elected. At least he’s not on the sidelines.
Perhaps he’s the “very major model modern major RNC governor”.
Christie is a pestilence.
When did they start naming winter storms? And, why?
If it’s going to happen to an Obama state, I don’t care if they’re going to get a hurricane, an earthquake, and ten feet of snow all at the same time. Let Obama take care of them.
“Since when to winter storms have names? Stupid!”
That’s my question too and I have a legitimate concern. My house insurance deductible goes up to 2% of the total damage from any NAMED storm.
My main concern is named hurricanes. We just got through Sandy on the MA SouthCoast.
Now we have a routine nor’easter blowing through and somebody gave it a name. If I get any damage, my deductible goes up.
So, who is naming these routine storms? NOAA?
Anybody know the answer to this?
The weather channel has started this.
“The weather channel has started this.”
Thank you. I guess that they feel the need to somehow make themselves appear relevant again.
“I am waiting for the locusts and pestilence next, said New Jersey Governor Chris Christie ...
Check your welfare rolls, and all the Muslim infested areas of your state, Governor Christie - you have the locusts already enrolled and munching merrily on the productive members of your state.
Post #15 also brings up an interesting possibility.
