Cast aside: Thousands of votes from our military troops uncounted or missing

According to the Naval Enlisted Reserve Association, scores of military absentee ballots cast in the 2012 Election will not be counted. U.S. Military personnel and their families are outraged: “Where the hell is this country’s moral compass?!” stated the mother of a 25 year old Marine who served in Afghanistan.

The military mail service is notoriously slow, and lawmakers have said that it could be almost two months after the election before ballots even arrive to be processed.

Add to that the incident on October 19th, just two and a half weeks before the November 6th elections, when a transport plane crashed at Shindad Air Base, destroying almost 5,000 pounds of mail – including absentee ballots being sent to U.S. military serving in Afghanistan. Election officials recommended resending the ballots – just two and a half weeks before the elections (bears repeating).

Michelle Malkin reported in an article published at Townhall.com, “Despite a federal law mandating that every base establish a voting assistance office (the 2009 Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act), the Pentagon reported this summer that it could only contact such offices on half of the military's bases. In Wisconsin alone this election cycle, at least 30 municipalities failed to send absentee ballots to members of the military before the 45-day election deadline.”

The bottom line is that our military, those men and women who risk their lives to protect our freedom, those most deserving to exercise their right to vote, are being prevented from doing so. This is unconscionable.

This all along should have been the story of the day, and I can’t imagine how the MSM got away without reporting this.

What are we to think of a nation that fights tooth and nail for illegal aliens to vote but disenfranchises soldiers fighting on our behalf?

This is outrageous and it should be made a HUGH deal about...

But what passes for "Republicans" in Congress won't issue a peep. They are the true enemies of our country. They ALLOW this to happen.

Indeed. Hugh Hewitt should address this issue on his radio show.

EVERY SINGLE military vote...Every single person in our military that wishes to vote...These votes should ALWAYS be counted, no matter what!!!!!!!

These people’s lives are on the line a lot of the time depending on how an election goes.....

If even ONE military vote is ignored, disenfranchised or not allowed to be counted at any time, is a travesty of the worst.....

The military knows well what the dork thinks of them.

When CW-II comes, they will also know well that they have vowed to protect the constitution, not the dork.

Hopefully, the crew of AF-1 will refuse to fly the dork out of the country when the mobs reach the White House.

And the Marines at the White House will have the pleasure of flipping the dork the bird he so soundly deserves.

Example of what our communists empire is going to be like. Those votes were not lost of misplaced, they were the same as shit caned without a doubt. The communists tentacles are huge and many are even in the Republican Party.

This is an outrage of the most unforgivable sort. Fighting men should be the FIRST to vote! In an electronic age, there is no excuse.

But the Republicans won’t take a stand and fight for the people who fight (and die) for them. In fact, they won’t fight for anything that matters.

They’re not called the Wet Noodle Party for nothing. Good chance they’ve jumped the shark this time around.

Well I don’t know about all that. I heard Bob Beckel on The Five last night say....well 50% of the military voted for him (obama), how do you explain that? The Republicans response was...I don’t know.

Why can’t service members file a voters rights law suit against the state govt’s.
Many of these service members are also minorities who have even more standing under the law.
Congress should frame new legislation establishing a fail proof online or other voting system to supplement of replace state systems to insure that every service member..however remote or recently moved gets an opportunity to register and vote.

Mail? Overseas ballots should be airlifted back to the US, not sent through some regular mail channel. There are flights leaving every day from Afghanistan and Iraq back to the US. There is no excuse. Any public official that violated this law should be prosecuted.

We should bombard our congress person to pass a law that no election can be declared valid without our military votes being counted!!
