Relocation site sought (vanity)

Posted on 11/08/2012 7:33:31 AM PST by swift15

Now that the election has been completed, I know that I need to relocate. I am recently retired and I will sell my townhouse and move from Northern VA. But I haven’t yet narrowed the field of possible locations very much. GF and I have been entertaining the idea of purchasing a piece of rural property and constructing our own house. But we really want to be among conservative-minded folks.

We have been actively reading this site for a long time and always appreciate the opinions of those involved.

I would like to have as many opinions and suggestions about where we should begin our search for a new locale, as well as ideas on what other factors should be considered.

The western part of VA, TN, TX, PA, even NH seem attractive from a CoL perspective, as well as seasonal change and the prospect of lower taxes. (I have lived in western PA, AL, FL, NC, CA, and VA.)

Come to Mississippi. Out of state pensions are not taxed, we have some beautiful rural areas, real estate is affordable, schools are great, and we are a God loving people.

I can think of no better choice for you than East Tennessee. No state income tax, staunchly Conservative, beautiful landscapes with rolling hills, very low cost of living. Come join us.

I moved from deep-blue Rhode Island to central Kentucky 5 years ago, and haven’t regretted it since.

Low cost of living, lots of land available, relatively temperate weather, and lots of work if you’re an Engineer (automotive industry is huge here).

Hmmm... seasonal changes. Well, I might suggest the area NE of Huntsville, AL, then. Not too far from some civilization, some hill country (they call them ‘mountains’ here, but that’s a little silly). The state is solidly red: went 60-38 for Romney. That 38% bit was due to Burmingham and a band of counties across the lower central part of the state. The Northern tier averaged around 75% - up to 86% - for Romney.

I may be able to suggest Western NC now (my prior stop), except for Asheville, which is where the artsy/loonies are. The NC culture seems to be changing (after a string of bad governors, a Republican finally just was elected), but isn’t there yet. GOP-induced redistricting bought some new US House members - looks like it will be a 6-3 margin now.

Taxes are better in Alabama, though.

I can retire in March 2013 at 62 but it would be the lowest SS payment of about $1200. I’m fighting in court to keep my house (BofA is attempting foreclosure). I’m in Pgh PA and have been all my life. If I lose my court case, I’m thinking of retiring and relocating to a red state. Maybe rent a little place for me and my dog and get a part-time job.

How would they do that? Obama would be the new Lincoln and send in the Armed Forces.

Because the nation is about to fall into chaos. They'll be busy eliminating the useless eaters in the large population areas so those who are left will be easier to control.
While they're busy culling the heard, those who are left will be building their own world - without politicians. Every man will sit under his own vine, and no man will ever be able to take it away from him again.

The 10, standing with pomp and glitter, race to their vaults.
The people, angry and in disarray, will loot the shops.
Which of these knew in advance? The Eagle? The Bear? The sun? The lion?
No, the skies seemed clear, and the road straight.
No, destiny was not a consideration for this race.

Fireworks heralded their day.
Returned have 8 to prepare the way.
Blue light from beyond sets the course.
As death retreats before Michael's presence.
He'll walk and talk with all those that wish.
Oh , what a glorious time this will be.

Yes, some liberals are coming to TX, but we natives are outspoken enough to have had some success in converting a fair number to conservatives.

The demographics are in flux, but its not all bad. I know many conservative blacks and Hispanics. Austin and Houston are heavy liberal, the border counties are as well percentage wise but are low population.

Dallas county is liberal as well, but went Dem only 56.97/41.59 this time. Interestingly the straight ticket results were 59.01/40.18. Sounds like there are some issues voters, and they are more right-leaning.

We could use your help in Texas. It’s a border state and the Dems want so badly to control it. Come on down!

Thirteen sectors?

This years quake cycle is going to be devistating. Some states will no longer exist (mosty blue states will dissapear). The states will seperate, some will merge, and they'll take care of their own.

HAARP - November 7, 2012 - 12:30p EST...
A 7.4 - 7.5 magnitude quake hit the Western North American Coast (Central America) this morning. This quake followed by a 4.5 in Utah signals the stress on the West Coast.
The entire West Coast is under our Earthquake Watch and the window was extended until Friday morning. We are still watching California.

Quake schedule:

November 13-14: 6.5 +
November 15-16: 6.5 +
November 20: 6 +
November 22-23: 6.5 +
November 28: 7 +
December 4-5: 7 +
December 11: 7 +
December 17-18: 8 +
December 21: 10 +

(Print this out and keep for your records. You can watch and verify it's accuracy.)

Move south... Yes, Western PA does indeed have relative cost of living, but the state is governed from the Philly perspective and Gas Bills and property taxes are high.

My 150k house has nearly 5k of property taxes per year... and likely will go up again this year.

And while other counties have dodged the property taxes, its just a matter of time before the entire state is re-assessed.
