Word For The Day, Thursday, November 8, 2012 - sequacious
dictionaries ad nauseam | 8 November 2012 | Thursday's sub

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

sequacious \sih-KWAY-shus\, adjective
Intellectually servile

Example sentences:
Eager to prove that he was not merely a sequacious follower, Mario wrote a critical review of his former mentor's book.

"Fund investors are not simply sequacious followers of yield, but are also responding to the federal government's actions to stabilize the macro-economic environment."
— From an article by Matthew Sheahan in High Yield Report, January 12, 2009

Etymology:
"Sequacious" is formed from the Latin "sequac-," or "sequax" (which means "inclined to follow" and comes from "sequi," "to follow") and the English "-ious." The original and now archaic meaning of "sequacious" was "inclined to follow" or "subservient." Although that meaning might as easily describe someone who willingly dropped into line behind a war leader, or who was unusually compliant or obedient in any sense, the concept gradually narrowed into the image of someone who blindly adopts ideas without much thought. Labeling a person "sequacious" is not very complimentary, and implies a slavish willingness to adopt a thought or opinion. See obamatron.

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

With arguments forged and fallacious
And an attitude crudely pugnacious
“The One” won once more
‘cause the hordes that adore
Him are uninformed lemmings, sequacious

The US may be Center Left politically, but I think the great majority of the country lives life based on conservative principles. Hard work, personal responsibility, faith. There are plenty who do not live their lives this way, but most do.

A+ for you. Someone counted how many times Romney said thank you in his gracious speech. 27. And how many times did ozero reference himself in his speech. 27. Coincidence? I think not.

I think that is the group that makes up the red in the election map.

Worth noting:
Shortly after Youssef left the courtroom, his lawyer, Steven Seiden, came to the front steps of the courthouse and told reporters his client wanted to send a message.
"The one thing he wanted me to tell all of you is President Obama may have gotten Osama bin Laden, but he didn't kill the ideology," Seiden said.

It's free food, free benefits.

"I don’t know the best course to pursue to attract people to the Republican party. Giving up core principles is definitely not the way to go."

But the smart mouse knows that the tiny bit of cheese in the trap, denotes a much larger amount of cheese that is not in the trap.

Going on the dole provides limited wealth, but becoming independent and self-reliant is the only course to truly unlimited wealth.

With turnouts in my County over 90% and votes for Romney averaging 65%, I know these were not sequacious followers of Obumbum. But, little good did that do. Wisconsisn’s electoral votes still went to the Won because of the voracious appetite for freebies in Milwaukee, to the south of me.

Keep in mind that ozero lost in every state with photo ID. Let's work on getting those laws in place.

Is that true? Then we need to ly**h impeach a couple of Dane County judges here in WI. Dane County (read Madison) judges suspended our duly passed and signed Photo ID law.

“We must rely on ourselves and on our resources and build our country,” Issam Al-Aryan, a top Muslim Brotherhood official, said, according to The Times of Israel.

Good. That means the money "gravy" train can stop. And the toruist train. And the oil train. I understand that a huge pool of oil has been found under Nevada. We should use our own. Maybe Obama will wake up to reality on the drilling process. We can pray.

sequacious

There was a program on t.v. last nite about bunch of yokes chasing a sequacious critter through the woods. They were definitely servile but not much on the intellectual stuff.
They were probably chasing that fella used to run the drug store and started sampling the stock. Called him Fowler the Howler on account of his....problem.

Well now, you keep your chins up, bring your own jug and we’ll keep a spot by the fire open for you even if you don’t smell too good.

To do ANYTHING to avoid sequestration, I fear that bruised Republican legislators will simply sequaciously accede to POUTUS...

No. It wasn’t stolen.

#1. It’s is ridiculously hard to knock off incumbents. This is why I still shake my head at people who think that Harry Reid was necesasrily a goner in 2010. Now I do think there may be some light fraud in NV,CO,PA? but not enough to matter in the path to 270.

#2. The candidate matters. ‘Nuff said.

#3. Obama has a ridiculous get out the vote machine that will bring every dirtbag and welfare loser to the polls every 4 years. The good news is this does not work in off years and may not work in 2016 as Obama will not be on the ballot.
