Percentage of Voting Age Population casting ballots
1960 62.77% 1964 61.92% 1968 60.84% 1972 55.21%
2012 guessing Voting Age Population at 240,000,000; total vote 120,000,000 : 50%
Romney too, compared to McCain.
To me, that’s likely to be Palin’s drawing power over Ryan’s.
No talk or plans about the lost constitution and individual freedom and it’s restoration. Just economy stuff and the GOP has lost credibility on that front with their spending during Bush’s years. Romney looked too similar to the Won.
Well, they got plenty of “Likes” on their Facebook pages. That seemed to be important to them.
I agree to the failure to bring up the Constitution. Romney used his summation to great effect in Debate 1 and that was the shining moment of his campaign. He certainly should have done the same in debates 2 and 3.
Good point, I didn’t make the connection there until you mentioned it.
What a catastrophe she wasn’t ready for the savaging they inflicted on her. Talk about a war on women.
There are still several million absentee ballots to be counted.
Romney is a destructive force and does not belong in republican politics, and he should never have become it’s leader.
This has to do with the fact that, when things are going along basically fine, people won’t vote for a change. In addition, Zero had a fanatical base who DID turn up at the polls. Those long lines? Aw, I don’t feel like spending 90 minutes waiting, my smartphone needs charging, I won’t be able to play my games while I wait.
10 million votes down is like nobody voted in Michigan and Ohio. Obama was down through the trap door, just Romney couldn’t nail it shut. I’m struggling to figure out why.
They are the 47 percent — but they all showed up to vote. Had nothing to do with sizes of rallies, or “ground game”, the Obama candidacy and support is 100% racist, 100% of the time. Gay marriage? Passed everywhere. Pot legalization? Alive and well. Illegal aliens? Not only no problem, let ‘em vote! Lazy @#$%^&*ers don’t show up to repudiate the Demwits at the ballot box? Must be the fault of Christie/Bush/McCain/Boehner...
A friend of mine said today that we were fools believing that we could win by having Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan give lectures on free market economics to savages. We should replace the old Serpenthead axiom “It’s the economy, stupid” with the Mark Steyn “ It’s the demographics, stupid.” Saw an interesting exit poll result. Romney carried NJ, NY, and even California among the pale faces amongst us. The truth is Romney lost this election when he criticized Obama for dramatically increasing food stamp recipients and promising to create millions of new jobs. What we thought was scoring points was scaring the majority dependent class. They saw it differantly than us,that they might have to get a job and lose their food stamps
I don’t see the demographic argument in light of the raw numbers. A truly energized turnout of 5 million more, which should have easily been in our grasp, would have crushed that argument. I ‘m coming back to my first impression. The biggest theme of the past 4 years was Obamacare and Romney was uniquely unable to fight on that battlefield. Even the “silver lining” of Roberts’ betrayal in calling it a tax was a weapon Romney could not pick up and use. But now, free of Romney, the Republicans can pick it up. There’ll be no penalty and a country to save.
