Looks like a socialist/democrat foreign invasion on the borders and it is. I see the cities overrun with foreign immigrants legal and illegal.

“Big cities are doing us in.”

That’s right and yesterday there was talk on Fox about potentially eliminating the Electoral process.

About time we try a blue state/GOP state president. Have a leader of all the red states with different policies and a leader of all the blue with different policies. Same with the legislature. Split it up.

Then see which “country” within the nation does better.

At least people will be happy with their government on both sides.

I agree. The EC needs to be revamped. My daughter and I were saying this very thing last night. The big districts win the blue vote every time, negating the rest of the state’s votes.

There are basically two kinds of people. Those who want to be left alone, and the meddling busybodies who won’t leave them alone.

See, it wouldn’t be so bad if the collectivists in the cities would just leave us rural folk alone. It’s not as if we’re big contributors to their big government schemes. They outnumber us and out-earn us handily.

If they could just limit their twisted gutter morals, collectivist tax-and-spend schema to municipalities having greater than, say, 100,000 people, rural folks would be left alone.

But they want to force their big-city lifestyle on country folks that love God and Family, have a sense of moral compass, and own guns to defend their hearths and homes.

That would be up to each state. Maine and Nebraska do something similar to what your suggesting.

The states have the constitutional privledge to allot electors as they see fit. Personally I think the best way to do it is the way Maine and Nebraska do it. Two electors for winning the state’s popular vote and one elector for each congressional district. This would put almost everyone in the election process. Look at California and New York. Half the states are red, yet the people are disinfranchised.

I was thinking the same thing. I saw the documentary on Sparta and little people knew this but they had TWO KINGS, NOT 1.

One king could negate the other king so the balance of power was kept, It had to be unanimous between the 2.

Yeah I noticed that FOX has been pimping the national popular vote snake oil lately.

The 17th amendment provides a perfect example of what's wrong with the popular vote. Here in Michigan we have a state government firmly in the hands of the GOP yet, Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Flint keep electing Stabenow and Levin for us.

Prior to the 17th amendment the state legislature chose two senators to represent the state. and if they failed to do so they could be removed almost immediately. Now we send these idiots to Washington and they override the wishes of the state from the federal level and are virtually untouchable.

The national popular vote is snake oil sold under the label of empowerment when it actually does the opposite.

I would support allocating the EV's by county rather than district although by district would be better than we have now. I would also apply this to the Senate races (each county would get 1 state EV and then the state EV's would be cast for the Senate candidate)

But I think if only one reform could be made it would be to ban from voting anyone who receives government money in any form. If you take a government college loan no voting until it is paid back, teach at a public school no voting for you, work for a company that takes government contracts, no voting for you.

It may seem to be an extreme measure but I see no other way to stop the takers from voting themselves even more largess

I don’t think your ideas are very good. We need a better system, that’s for sure, but the takers will get their reward when the freebies run out. Then they will take to the streets to riot. We’ll have an entire nation of Occupy Wall Streeters.

Philadelphia county gave Obama a 450,000 vote advantage in Pennsylvania. After the count, Obama won by about 300,000.

It seems like a good way to avoid having the more populous areas of a state from dominating the other areas. It would also make big city vote fraud less of a problem in National elections. This alone would make it very unpopular among certain parties.
