It’s not Sandy’s fault, it’s not Romney’s fault. It’s this nation’s fault. We’ve been in decline for many years and we are seeing the fruits of it.

It started when we took the ten commandments out of the schools and allowed the commies to take over.

That’s what happens when parents send their kids to secular public schools and college campuses and hope that the occasional church on Sunday is enough.

I voted Romney and I’m not 44 or over. People are so stupid.

I’m not surprised. Most Freepers are on the older side, and they seem to distaste anything ‘hip’ to the extreme, like using popular cultures as mean to win the election. Ignoring the fact that many people are not like them. Those people are also voters who can decide the elections. Hence, when Romney didn’t go to any popular TV talkshows, it’s considered smart. I call it stupid, when 0bama went to every single talkshow there is. The last 2 weeks, Romney didn’t go anywhere on TV, relying only campaign in person. Not saying he needed to go to Letterman, but selective talkshows wouldn’t hurt.

Not necessarily true:

Here is how some voting went with people associated with our business—elderly people with $$$$, out of four two went Obama, both women, Zero charmed their socks off.

One older, Christian couple had issues with Mormonism-either went third party or did not vote. There was a whole congregation that had the anti-Mormon teaching, so that was quite a few people.

Two Hispanics-one Obama and one Romney

39-year-old male and 35 year old female, Christians-Romney

Heard about a local church where the pastor spoke about Obama from the pulpit, as in vote for him, the pamphlets are in the back.

No rhyme or reason. The Christians voting for Obama had me flabbergasted. The blood of innocents on their hands.

Oh, and all but four of the people were from Ohio.

I saw a whole bunch of twenty somethings cheering their heads off in Times Square tonight. I wonder if they realize that big fat deficit is something they’re going to be paying for along with their children and grandchildren. I’m beginning to wonder how much more economic damage can our country take before a bunch of these young drones wake up and smell the coffee?

Good points, but I'd also add that I think Obama did surprisingly poorly in the 18-29 age group, which had been a strong base of support for him in 2008. I think I read one exit poll somewhere indicating that he only got 56% of the vote in that group, which surprised the heck out of me.

There's a more complicated dynamic at work here than just age. My suspicion is that Obama did well among people who have managed to be gainfully employed over the last four years -- regardless of their age and education level. He lost alot of support among younger people because a lot of the 18-22 year olds from 2008 are now college graduates with no hope of finding a good job anytime soon.

I was once 18-44 and looking back on those years I'm sorry I did most of the stuff I did back then. I know I'd be in a lot better shape physically and financially now if I would have listened to the wisdom of my elders.

So "snicker-snicker" these kids have a lot of learnin' to do and it won't be easy.

We scoffed at Barry for appearing with Letterman, The View, The Pimp with a Limp, Jayze and his other half, and so on. But that is what young people watch...where they get their political “news.”

We raised these young people and a lot of us didn’t turn off the filthy MTV or tell our kids Rap “music” and emulating black thugs is not the way to go. So how would they know Barry isn’t really cool?

Most of the under 45 people have never even heard Romney speak. They don’t care about not having a job because Daddy will provide their health insurance until they are 26 and they can live off their parents until their parents die. They don’t pay taxes so if taxes go up...they don’t care.

Oh, no doubt each of us has some ‘what if’ regrets. But that’s not what we’re talking about. We’re talking about the state of mind of those voters. Yes, dragging them to think the way they should wouldn’t be easy, but packaging the message toward them—taking into account their state of mind—needs to be done. Nowadays, substance and packaging come hand-in-hand. It may not be the case in the past, but surely is today.

In the end we are still one country. Yes half the country is very unhappy, worried and confused. The other half can't be happy that we are so split in very basic ways that seem insurmountable.

Where do we go from here? How do we compromise? Not many if any of us here at FR will accept compromising our religious beliefs and support any government mandating us to pay for or act against our beliefs? We won't accept a policy of reckless deficit spending. We won't accept dismantling our military and allowing our nation to be at risk to foreign or domestic enemies. The list goes on. I don't see a solution that solve the very basic and immediate issues ahead.

By the time the bill comes due, inflation will make the entire national debt look like my family's water bill. It will be easy to pay.

This is terrible news for anyone retired on a fixed income, but don't worry, Obamacare has a death panel for you, so you will never outlive your money...
