I think if people want to make choices, they've cast their lot and deal with the REPUTATION and CONSEQUENCES, and if they're ashamed of admitting who they are; that's not my problem....it's theirs.

Service charge really should be part of the bill.
It should, but it is not, and everyone knows it is not. Stiffing a waitress is theft.
Hell no! The worst service I’ve ever gotten was at a place where they included an 18% gratuity due to the size of the group (about 14).
When the gratuity is included, people often get lazy.
I’m happy to reward great service, or even good service. Don’t charge me extra for lousy service!

If the service is worth a tip I’ll tip but I haven’t been to a restaurant in years.

Unless the service is horrible — as in willfully spiteful or something — you should always leave a tip. 15% is the norm and you add or subtract depending on the quality of service. Not leaving a tip should be reserved for when you want to make a major statement to the waiter. Basically it says “If I were your manager I would fire you”. It should be very rare.

I put myself through college waiting table. Never did anything to anybody’s food - but know second hand about some who did. I only said what I said to make the point that all restaurant personnel dislike the non-tippers, they think they are deadbeats and worse.
You have no clue about me - I never expect something I haven’t earned, and I earned every dime I made serving, because I worked by butt off to provide excellent service.
I have a much better job, thank you (if you only knew!), and my time as a server helped me succeed elsewhere.
