Mine was George H.W. Bush in ‘88. If only I’d been old enough to vote for Reagan in ‘84.... *sigh*
Reagan was my first.
Never had another as good.
In 1976, my then 12 year old brother voted for Reagan in the Florida primary. My mother, torn between Ford and Reagan, had finally committed to Reagan. My rabidly pro-Reagan brother though anticipated the later Reagan maxim of “trust but verify” and insisted on accompanying her into the voting booth. The election clerk — our next door neighbor — allowed that as an educational experience, and my kind and wise mother let my brother pull the lever for Reagan.
Even I could see America was riding high under his leadership.
But my transformation to conservative didn't happen until 1993. I voted Perot in 1992. Clinton made me read everything about the conservative point of view. Since then I've never voted democrat.
1984. I was in the Army and voted absentee ballot. Wrote in Richard Nixon because everyone knew Uncle Ron had it in the bag.
Same here! George H.W. I wanted to kill Ross Perot. I could tell from my TV Clinton was a lying, womanizing scum. I was 18 and cried for my country.
