Virginia Voters

Posted on 11/06/2012 6:41:23 AM PST by albie

I liked seeing the Indiana voter opinion question so much that I thought I'd throw in a thread to get input from Virginia. I worked the polls in Richmond from 6a-8a and the turnout was literally 10x's that of 2008, which I also worked! Conservatives were fired up and up beat! You could easily tell the difference between a Romney and Obama voter. And I would say the ration was 20 to 1 Romney.

I voted in MO (St. Louis County) and you could tell the Obama voters from the Romney voters. The atmosphere was 180-degrees different from 2008. Last time the Dems were gleeful and I could tell the McCain people because they were silent and serious. This time it was the Romney folks networking, laughing, catching upon the gossip and kids, etc. The Obama folks, except for one, were quiet and whispering among themselves. I know MO is not in play but the experience left me optimistic about the rest of the day.

As posted on another thread: voted in York County (VA 1st Congressional District) at 7 am. My polling place is an elementary school in the Grafton area; in 2008, I breezed into the poll at mid-afternoon and voted in 10 minutes. This morning, there were at least 125 people in line when I arrived, and the length remained steady throughout my time in line.

The first district is a R+5 to R+7 district, and York County is overwhelmingly Republican. George Bush won well over 60% of the vote in 2004, and based on what I saw this morning, Mitt Romney will do even better this time. Lots of “broken glass Republicans” out in force.

I live in a heavily Republican Precinct. When I got there this morning at 5:45 the parking lot was completely full and there were 100+ in line....never seen anything like it for that early. I decided to leave and go back mid morning.

Just went again...same line. Will try again around 2PM and stick it out if the line is still long.

My friend in a 50%/50% precinct (black/white), reported that in 2008 the line was 90/10 black/white when the polls opened, but this morning it was just the opposite 10/90 (black/white).

Looks good for Romney here in VA!

I voted in the Stonewall Precinct in Prince William County in the Gainseville District. Long line and took 2 1/2 hours to vote. I’d say the crowd was probably 50/50. Difficult to put a read on it.

Voted in Isle of Wight Co, Southside of Hampton Roads...our precinct is a “majority minority” precinct and polling place is a black Baptist church...
Larger turn out than I have ever seen and blk/wht was pretty even.
