No joke...years back when I worked in labor and delivery, we used to hang IVs of 10% alcohol to stop premature labor.
Funny as hell when some poor teetotallin preachers wife came in, and after a few hours was drunk as all get out...and laughing her butt off..BUT///no more premature labor! :-)

Naaaaaa we kept them in the hospital and watched them very closely....let the alcohol wear off....and if contractions started again....we brought em back and got em drunk again LOL!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh the wonders of modern medicine ;-)
