"The Big Broadcast is a Sunday night tradition for families throughout the WAMU listening area. Each week, Big Broadcast host Ed Walker offers listeners priceless recordings of popular radio programs from the '30s, '40s and '50s. Priceless, especially, for a man whose first sentence as a child was, 'Turn the radio on.' "

Quite a scary line up for Halloween...

In other news, Hurricane Sandy will be stopping by Baltimore on Tuesday to say “Hi”...

Yes, Vision, we’ve been thinking about you and that storm. Although it’s not a very strong one, it’s big, so lots of people will feel it.

We wondered if the Big Broadcast was going to be preempted by storm and preparation coverage.

Hi everyone,
There is HURRICANE FRENZY here in Eastern PA. Looked all over for D batteries, but they’re sold out.

My Kindle estimated delivery date is:
Thursday, November 1, 2012

I went on Amazon two days ago to read customer reviews for the Paper White. Some long-time Kindle owners don’t like it and are returning it. Something about the lighting, shadows, and blue and pink spots...

Others are satisfied.

Unbelievable:

The House in Cypress Canyon

The Thing on the Fourble Board

War of the Worlds

are all classics.

My all time favorite is “The Thing on the Fourble Board”. For those of you who don’t know: a fourble board is a platform at a height of 80 feet or more above the floor of an oil derrick.

Thanks for posting.
Enjoy,
Dick

Hi Gina, the BB will be on. The problem with hurricanes up here is the trees, terrain, infrastructure aren't made for them. So even a tropical storm will rock our world.

This morning I was happy that the track was over Philly, but now it's right at the mason dixon line. Before it was right over the Baltimore beltway which was concerning. I have a lamp coming in by Amazon.com and 40lb of ice in the freezer hoping that will buy time if things get bad.

Oh, Baltimore has been in a panic the entire weekend. You could not buy D batteries anywhere if your life depended on it. I got lucky on early Sat morning because after all the major stores were sold out, a small gas station had not been raided so I picked up the 4 for this new lamp.

I'll be curious what you think. They might have screwed up by just dropping the wonderful Touch model.

Vision & Doc, here is a good storm site with a big collection of multiple models, graphics and imagery loops: http://spaghettimodels.com/
It takes a moment to load, especially since there’s lots of traffic hitting it right now.

I pray you and your families will be safe through whatever this thing does. I hope you don’t lose power.

Hi Dick, it's a great lineup. We've discussed The Thing on the Fourble Board a few times- it's mentioned as the scariest otr program ever.

Let me know if you want on the ping list.

Ha so funny you mentioned this. Today I went out to buy D batteries (I am in the Towson/Parkville area) and 7 stores later none could be found all sold out. Then I went to Babies R Us. Also sold out, but then I thought with all these toys... I made my way toward the back of the store, electronics, there on the bottom shelf was lots of "D" batties probabaly a dozen 4-packs. I grabbed 2 headed for the check out and the girl behind the counter says "where in the heck did you find those?". I told her there is some left in the back. Your post: Oh, Baltimore has been in a panic the entire weekend. You could not buy D batteries anywhere if your life depended on it. I got lucky on early Sat morning because after all the major stores were sold out, a small gas station had not been raided so I picked up the 4 for this new lamp.
