According to my cousin, her father does not meet the ObamaCare requirements to receive supplied oxygen. He has been using the oxygen for several years, and now they expect him to just stop. My Uncle is a WWII hero, his name listed in the book "The Forgotten 500." He recently took one of the honor flights to DC. I guess these guys aren't dying off fast enough for Obama.
Yes Obamacare adopted Gen. MacArthur's "old soldiers" to a more general "Old people never die, they just get in the way."
People like Obama see old people as mostly politically troublesome white folks. Of course they’d like to get rid of them.
I am so sorry. Hopefully you can find a group to help or the family just shares the cost.
It is not surprising, medicare has already started denying prescriptions for medically necessary meds.

Obama wants people to forget the principles of the Greatest Generation. Sacrifice and self responsibility are anathema to Obama’s marxist principles.

industrial grade oxygen has a higher standard of purity to meet than hospital grade...
head on down to your local welding supply store, buy a small cylinder, and then you can just exchange them for full ones, kinda like propane..
better quality at about half the price ( of course the cylinders will not be painted very pretty )...

The advantages to the liberal state of eliminating old people are:
1) Reduces social security and medicare payments
2) Reduces population of conservative voters
3) Assets can be seized for the state through confiscatory estate taxes
4) Reduces human population on the planet thereby reducing global warming and resource depletion.
5) Eliminates influence of older generation on shaping values of young people.

When I had private insurance they paid the synthetic drug cost and I picked up the difference. I have a weird thyroid issue and synthetics don’t work.
I found that fair based on the explanation.
When I was forced off my private plan and onto medicare, they said they would pay nothing. I called and argued with them about it, and they said they would would for six months, after that I needed to change the meds. My doctor wrote a letter of explanation - nope.
I feel for your friend, fortunately places like Sam’s Club, WalMart or Target have very low perception costs.
My father’s 89 y/o and a WWII and Korean war vet, Viet Nam era vet. Medicare wouldn’t pay for his oxygen and the supplier took it back. Doctors in Florida have been telling us for at least a year now we were being treated under Obamacare regulations. Based on what I’ve seen, Obamacare is genocide for the elderly and the chronically ill.
I would be very hesitant to offer that advice, because of the potential of contamination, if not from the tank then from the lubricant and who knows what all else. While the oxygen might be pure, it might not be dry, and the moisture could be serious bad karma.
As an aside, you can now get fairly inexpensive ($200-500) portable oxygen concentrator units that, while they don’t give pure oxygen, increase the amount of oxygen in the inhaled air.
If a doctor authorized the Oxygen and it was not approved by the government you should have gotten a letter. I would scan that docuement and publish it all over the internet...
