Election Night. What Network Will Call The Election First?,The Race For Bragging Rights?

Posted on 10/21/2012 7:46:14 PM PDT by Who_Ate_My_Dog

If the polls are very accurate and still show Romney with a likely landslide, wouldn't it be great to see Meagan,Brett,Sean or Britt call the election at the opening of the 7:00 election coverage? You can just picture Meagan Kelley open Fox News Election Coverage by telling the nation,"Good Evening From Fox News Election Night",etc. etc. etc. And even though no polls have closed as of yet,we here at Fox News will declare Mitt Romney The Next President Of The United States, based on several reliable sources and also based on the Rasmussen Projection that Mitt Romney will receive over 300 Electoral Votes!.You got to admit,it will be interesting to see how Ed Schultz,Matthews & Maddcow try to spin the embarrassing landslide.

Signs of the good news that the MSM member you are watching is about to win the bragging rights.. the bad news is the winner is Romney.

"It is Monday, March 4th. Although everyone else has given in to right wing pressure and declared...Romney...the winner, we here at MSNBC are still awaiting a recount in the village of South Fumbuck where Republican tricks may have caused as many as three votes to have been miscast. We are on this story! Obama didn't lose and we will see him restored to office. Come on, let's play Lardball! AAAAHHHHHH! What is the frequency, Rachel??!!!!"

Just silly old me, but I’d rather they didn’t jump the gun. To my mind, victory depends on turnout. At 7:00 P.M.in NYC or Washington, DC, farther west the day is still young and the polls are still open. I have no problem with them calling each state as that state’s polls close.

But let some talking head call the election pre-maturely for Romney, people farther west decide their vote isn’t necessary and don’t bother going to vote, and we suddenly wind up with 4 more years of Obunga! Let’s not let our enthusiasm override our common sense, PLEASE!

Just let it play out the way it’s supposed to. A 10:00 or 11:00 P.M. call of victory for R&R will do nicely. We all should be well-stocked with popcorn. Let’s enjoy the evening listening to the increasingly loud and mournful wailing of the libs as the closing of the polls rolls westward.

I think MSNBC will have record viewership that night. The meltdown will be nuclear. I'm just sorry Olbermann won't be there.

ANY Romney voter who would be swayed by the TV before voting on the 6th is worse than foolish. This year it is about getting out the vote, nothing less!

I really wish that there would be no reporting at all on TV, the internet or via any other media source of the results of any of the voting results for the president or members of congress until the polls close in California. Other races being run on a state-by-state basis are a totally different matter.

I think this is more critical this year than ever before, particularly considering the fact that the press is obviously totally in the tank for Obama. We already know there will be a tremendous amount of fraud. Romney is going to need to win every state by a wide popular vote margin so the Dems can’t possibly have enough replacement ballots to offset the results.

I have a question to those who are more politically astute:

What’s the threshold between a win and a landslide? Is it typically based on the number of electoral votes? The percentage of the win, whether electoral or popular vote numbers? Whether it’s a Republican victory versus a Democrat victory? Basically, are there empirical standards or is it just a ‘feeling’ someone gets that a win is big enough to be called a landslide instead of simply a victory.

When Florida was called prematurely for the Democrat candidate, it was Republicans, not Democrats, who didn’t vote. It is *much* better to be overconfident, then under-confident. People like to vote for winners, not losers. An early call for Romney, and Democrats will find something better to do. Republicans will still show up, wanting to be part of the win.

It is much better to “fight like you know you are going to win” than to “fight like it’s tied”. The former generally leads to success. The latter is a good way for people to become pessimistic, and to stay home.
