Is it true that Mitt Romney closed down his firm, Bain Capital, and flew 30 workers to New York to look for the missing daughter of one of his colleagues?
The fact-finding groups PolitiFact.com, Snopes.com and Truthorfiction.com all rate this as true, and media reports of the day confirm much of the details of the viral email.

The father of the girl needs to do it on his own
This is another powerful Mormon tale which Romney campaigns have used in ads, for years.
Here is the truth regarding the teenage daughter of a fellow Mormon Bishop, Melissa Gay.
This one time effort (never duplicated in any form) for a powerful, wealthy fellow Mormon leader and Bain executive has never been done again by Mormon Bishop Romney, it was Mormon insider stuff by the elites, way over the top for a teen girl that went to a rave and stayed with her friends for a couple of days.
Mormon Bishop, Robert Gay, the Bain executive is at the top among Mormon leaders, On March 31, 2012, he became a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy.
“But several acquaintances of the teen who knew her well at the time and have not spoken publicly before told The Daily a different story: one of a rebellious adolescent in a moment of high-spirited escapism who hid from her parents in relative safety in an upscale New Jersey town.
And they credited the group of new friends she made during her disappearance, including a boyfriend, as the ones who ultimately encouraged Melissa Gay — daughter of Romney’s colleague at private equity firm Bain Capital — to head home to her panicked family.”
“Did Mitt Romney ‘save’ this girl? No,” said Doug Becker, the then-boyfriend and now a 32-year-old pastor in the same town of Rockaway, N.J. “But I do think what spurred her going home was the kind of coverage it was getting, and I think [Romney] was pretty responsible for that.”
“Another childhood friend, speaking anonymously, was more blunt. “I think the ad is incredibly misleading. Dishonest is the word for it,” the friend said. “She wasn’t saved, she ran away to go to a rave, and got lost and wound up in New Jersey. She paged a friend to come get her.”
A Mormon and a Bain executive. How dare he.
Romney = closes down his firm which pays out of pocket for some of its employees to search for the daughter of a missing colleague...
Obama = takes off for a Vegas fundraiser just days after four of his employees are murdered and later refers to the incident at “not optimal”....

The "father" and fellow Bain executive, is now a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy, he is of the highest of the high of the Mormon power structure.
He has been trumpeting this and making TV ads using it for Mitt, for many years, and they used to spread the story as Mitt having saved the girls life, etc., it used to be told even more dramatically than today, snopes and others ended that.
So a fellow Bain executive and a man that is in line to become the Holy Prophet of the Mormons, is the only teen runaway in all of Mitt’s history of thousands of employees and 65 years of life?

Whether she was in danger or was “saved” by Romney’s action isn’t the point.
Nobody knew whether she was or was not in danger. That’s why they call it “missing.”
The point is that the effort was made, at private expense.
Why don’t you loony toons just declare your strings to the Obama campaign already?
In this version she is not rescued hours away from death as some accounts over the years have portrayed it, but the main point is, that this is related to WHO it was, Romney has never done this for anyone else, and never would, although we know that this is a very common event and would have happened countless times among lesser employees.
A fellow Bain boss and a man that is in line to become the Holy Prophet of the Mormons was a recipient of an extraordinary, one time action, something that would have freaked out many of us during our teen years.
Whether she was in danger or was “saved” by Romney’s action isn’t the point.

It’s Pam Finlayson describing how Mitt helped her with her premature child and how he ignored all the tubes sticking out of her and showed the child real compassion.
This is one of many videos of people who have been helped by Romney on a personal level. He has spent his life helping others and there must be hundreds of other examples out there. Turn these into 30 to 60 sec commercials and play one during every break of an hour long show. Obama’s whole strategy is to portray Mitt as a monster and these emotional videos would destroy that. If you can make someone cry with a political commercial you’ve won. Mitt’s not going to run these because of his religious beliefs but what about the other groups? Mitt’s negatives are the last hurdle to overcome, that’s what these ads could do. If anyone knows of a group running these ads let me know, I’ll send them my check.

Good gosh people, Mitt has been milking this for more than a decade, they HAVE run the ads this year, as they do every election.
Embarassments and inconveniences are handled quietly, or tried to.
