And another casualty in a botched no-knock SWAT raid. We’re getting at least one of these stories a week nowadays, aren’t we?

I wonder what kind of shape that girl’s hearing is in. I can’t imagine that she didn’t have some kind of hearing damage.

"If we're wrong or made a mistake, then we're going to take care of it," he said.

You were wrong, and you made a mistake.

Oh, and what do you think the odds are that any punishment is handed down for this?

St. John said investigators did plenty of homework on the residence before deciding to launch the raid but didn't know children were inside.
They did their homework? Really?

Then fire they're sorry a$$es because they are absolutely worthless.

“It was totally unforeseen, totally unplanned and extremely regrettable,” St. John said. “We certainly did not want a juvenile, or anyone else for that matter, to get injured.”

If that were the case, you wouldn’t have detonated the grenade. Period. Your gross irresponsibility has wounded (hopefully not permanently) a 12 year old girl.

I’d have tinnitus for 50 years after that. Or deafness.

Another sterling success in the famous “War on Drugs!” Call in a brass band! If this won’t teach those commoners they have no right to decide what to smoke, snort, inject, drink, sniff, or otherwise take, nothing ever will.

How’s Prohibition II coming along, America? Pretty well, I imagine, or every police and sheriff’s department in the country wouldn’t have an unquestionable rationale for cobbling together its very own SWAT team.

The scene of the crime

The evidence (looks like a 3rd degree burn to me; any Freeper nurses, doctors, or EMTs available for comment?)

And this STUPID war on drugs claims more innocent victims.

I used to be a staunch advocate for the WOD, but now? No way, if the druggies want to burn out their brains, fine! Let them buy regulated stuff at a pharmacy, tax it and let it go.

It’s like Prohibition all over again. People and the Government NEVER read history and never
from it.

And then the other side of me says, that what is happening now was the desired goal all along. More control, more loss of basic freedoms and a populace that is cowed by the Gangs both uniformed and UN-uniformed.

The war on drugs mentality and laws have erroded the rights of law abiding citizens.

The police can and do assume guilt based on the flimsiest of evidence, and act as if the suspects are convicted felons.

It is ridiculous.

No arrests were made during the raid and no charges have been filed, although a police spokesman said afterward that some evidence was recovered during the search.

After reading that, anything I have to say is pointless.

...However, the officer didn’t realize that there was a delay on the grenade when he tried to detonate it. He dropped it to move onto a new device, St. John said. The grenade fell to the floor and went off near the girl.....

the officer had no business using a lethal tool he was not acutely familiar with-criminal negligence.

When they aren’t shooting dogs, they are burning 12 year old girls with grenades and are claiming that such activity had “unforeseen” results.

Wonder what percent of SWAT assaults actually capture a criminal or lead to an arrest.

Since no charges were filed, it is doubtful they have a case.

This is becoming a commonplace house of horrors. Citizens are being killed and for no reason other than some policemen (who show no evidence of being adult) want to play army.

Idiots.

90% of cities with SWAT teams have NO REASON to have them.

Bullspit. If you didn't want it to happen you wouldn't have used weapons of war against a citizen. May karma come back and bite you on your azz.
