Very odd. I am here in Suffolk County Long Island and we just had an interruption warning us of a tornado warning.
Last time that happened was in the late 90's.
Tornado Watch 646 remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for the
following locations
CT
. Connecticut counties included are
Fairfield Middlesex New Haven
New London
Yer cool if yer west of Brentwood...Islip is gettin’ hammered.
No... this isn’t Him.
Get in the basement.
Tornadoes can happen anywhere.
Albany looks to be right in the heart of a huge tornado watch box.
I’m on the CT shoreline and we’re just through getting hammered. Earlier a few guys were surfing off my beach in some victory-at-sea slop. Hilarious, really.
There’s cold air right behind it. We got some rain when the system moved through Michigan and now we’re headed down into the 30s tonight.
You’re getting what we had in Baltimore this afternoon.
I am west of Brenthood...thank God. Anywhere near that place is total gangland.
Keep safe!!!
Just started getting winds and rain in central ct.
Damn, that’s quite a drop. Tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful.
I plan on going to Crab Meadow tomorrow....after high tide. Hopefully I will pick up some beautiful beach glass!
I’m in Manhattan and we had some ferocious wind and rain tonight.
All of NJ was under a tornado watch till 7 PM.
We had tornado warnings in central NY earlier this evening.
Mayhap it is Him...time fer a fall cleaning in Brenthood;-)
Thanks Mesta, will do! Everything just seemed to stop as I am typing..not a good sign.

The winds were incredible today, kept me from going out back and having a butt. Thought the trees were going to fall on me!
If it's a tornado WARNING, then yes, get in the basement. "Warning" means a tornado has been sighted in the area. If it's a tornado WATCH, though, that just means the conditions are present for a tornado, but one has not yet been sighted. Not the same level of urgency.
This distinction is old hat for us midwesterners, but for those in the east, this may not be as familiar.
I was born and raised in Chicago, currently live in St. Louis, and have also lived in St. Paul, Minnesota, and near Lincoln, Nebraska, where I saw a lot of tornadoes. I spent a year on the Long Island Sound, in Greenwich, Conn., but don't recall any tornadoes from that time.
Hehehe....
Are you still there?
It was a warning. Last time I went through one, everything stopped, just as it did now...then all Heck hit.
Thankfully, it hit about 2 minutes away from where I lived and no one was hurt.
I’m now in that “calm before the storm” moment.
Stay safe
Obama is collecting $40,000 a head at a swanky restaurant in Manhattan tonight too bad the weather is so awful.
Rain and wind all day in CT.
Tornado warning has been dropped for us. Now it just a watch.
Sometimes your ears pop, like in an ascending or descending plane, or driving up a mountain. If you don’t have a basement, get in the middle of the house, away from exterior walls.
Yep. I just have to go through 1 door for basement safety.
Last time that happened was in the late 90’s.
It’s happening again, now. Is it a warning or a watch? there is a big difference. Severe thunderstorm warnings too? We have this all the time in the south. Most of the time just good sleeping weather. There were two tornadoes last week in NYC so you aren’t immune. Keep an eye on the local radar and good luck to you

Interior windowless bathroom, in the tub if possible.
Thanks F15, will do. So strange how it comes on so suddenly, then stops and BOOM, it hits!
I’m in the calm now...waiting for the BOOM, which happened last time.
However, my 2 kitties are lounging on the couch, like nothing is happening.
When they run, I will!
We've had several here in New York City in the past couple of years. Two just a few weeks ago, one in Brooklyn, the other in Queens.
The morrow will greet you with a clear sky, and a crisp northwesterly breeze. Enjoy while I labor in 90+ degree temps...ta be quite honest, 90 ain’t bad this time o’ year!
Cheers!
Damn it, this is his fault! Everywhere he goes, chaos hits.
This thing who calls himself obama MUST go!
Thanks for that tip, never thought of that. =)
It was a warning, now a watch.
Hello Captain Obvious...of COURSE it is!!!/s
Is this Him? No.
I will be going to my local beach (now that the season has ended) to collect beach glass and reflect.
Okay, I'm a total fag girl, but when I go beach glassing, I look out and see how perfect He made the world.
At times it brings me to tears. The perfection is sometimes unbelievable.

Two Tornadoes Strike in NYC
By KAREN MATTHEWS | Associated Press
NEW YORK (AP) Two tornadoes struck New York City on Saturday [Sept 8, 2012], one swept out of the sea and hit a beachfront neighborhood and the second, stronger twister hit moments later, hurling debris in the air, knocking out power and startling residents who once thought of twisters as a Midwestern phenomenon.
Videos taken by bystanders showed a funnel cloud sucking up water, then sand, and then small pieces of buildings, as the first moved through the Breezy Point section of the Rockaway peninsula in Queens.
The second hit west, in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn also near the water, about seven minutes later. The National Weather Service said winds were up to 110 miles per hour, and several homes and trees were damaged.
No serious injuries were reported.
Residents had advance notice. The weather service had issued a tornado warning for Queens and Brooklyn at around 10:40 a.m. The storm took people by surprise anyway when it struck about 20 minutes later. ...”

Yup. Here are a couple of youtube links from last weeks NYC tornados.
I must tell all of you..our town, for the past year, and STILL continuing, has been doing “construction...shovel ready jobs” to elevate New York Ave (which used to be a river) a freakin inch.
News 12 weather is now saying cars are getting STUCK in that area, in which was “raised” to prevent such flooding.
Really???
I assumed it was a warning because of the headline.
ILLINOIS HOLLA!
We had the largest tornado since I lived here a few years back. It turned over a empty boxcar and a few semi-trailers. The hail poked holes in my fiberglass patio cover and pounded my corn in to the ground. The corn was already 6” tall.
...beach glass...
**************************
Second mention of that on this thread.
What is ‘beach glass’?
Beach glass is glass (usually fragments of bottles)that has been smoothed and sanded by the action of waves and sand.
