Cliffs:

-16 year old girl is drugged at party-goes unconscious

-football team members(up to 6-8 allegedly), nicknamed themselves "The Bangers", record entire incident on video including team members carrying her out by her ankles and wrist and putting her on back of trunk of car and taking her to a secluded spot.

-Allegedly rape her

-afterwards urinate on her

-post entire video on Youtube and Facebook under the title "The Song of the Night Is Rape"

-Video goes viral among students

-2 students arrested so far

-Tweets of "rape" also go viral. Worst nasty comments about the night you can imagine. One student tweets of unconscious girl how she can sleep "while getting a wang up the butthole" and other students talk about the "rape"

-Tweets saved at prinnified.com (local woman saves all the info and is reporting of the alleged crime)

-Story finally getting some traction as it happened in April.

-2nd 14 year old girl comes forward today announcing she was also raped though did not name suspects and police not saying it is related or not.

Let me guess; the football players are Eric Holder’s people, and the victim is not.

moral absolutes ping.

Looks like the community here (with some exceptions) is a bit better than happy valley about recognizing a limit on the value of football ambitions.

From Wikipedia page for Steubinville OH:

Political corruption

Steubenville has had a reputation for political corruption. The U.S. Department of Justice alleged that the city and police force had subjected numerous individuals to "excessive force, false arrests, charges, and reports" and had engaged in practices regarding "improper stops, searches, and seizures." The report from the Department also stated that excessive force was levied against individuals who witnessed incidents of police misconduct, and against those who were known critics of the city and its police force. Those individuals were also falsely detained if the city and the police agreed that they were "likely to complain of abuse." It also stated that the officers involved also falsified reports and tampered with official police recorders so that "misconduct would not be recorded.

Over a period of 20 years the city lost, or settled out of court, 48 civil rights lawsuits involving its police force. The city paid out more than $800,000, $400,000 of which was between 1990 and 1996. As a result, the city's police force became the second city in the United States to sign a consent decree with the federal government due to an excessive number of civil rights lawsuits. The decree was signed on September 4, 1997 under the "pattern or practice" provision. Under this agreement, the city agreed to improve the training of its police officers, implement new guidelines and procedures, establish an internal affairs unit, and establish an "early warning system."

Politics

The current political make-up of Steubenville is largely Democratic and an above-average number of registered Independents. There are six Democrats for every one Republican in Steubenville.

The City of Steubenville is part of the 6th Congressional district of Ohio and represented by Bill Johnson. The 6th district is the longest US House district in Ohio and runs along the southeast state borders of Ohio.

Representative Johnson is a Republican.

If true, that should be the end of football at Steubenville.

If I was the parent of a player, my kid would be quitting the team! They shouldn’t even be taking the field until everyone who knows anything this cooperates with the police. I wouldn’t let my kid be part of a team that is okay with players who had anything to do with this being part of the team.

Hubby was telling me about this the other day.... the version he heard was quite different and while vile, not nearly as vile as this. Changes my perspective on it quite a bit.

Eh, what do you expect will happen when you combine alcohol, teenage hormones and girls that have no sense whatsoever. Who would have thought a girl going alone to this kind of unsupervised party may have something bad happen to her? Where was the father of this young woman? Most likely long since divorced and alienated from her and in no position to lay down the law, or for those boys/young men, where were their fathers teaching them right from wrong?

Sad to say but this will only get worse as the family continues to break down under the joke of a system called family court. Kids raised by single mothers ultimately end up having no respect for either women or the law. How many of these types of crimes have we seen in the past few years? Expect to see more as the family continues to breakdown and fathers are sidelined in the raising of their children.

We don’t know that the victim was even drinking. She could have had a coke with something in it (GHB or similar) and passed out without having done anything wrong.

We do know that the guy videotaping the event was producing child pornography, and that the guys having sex with a girl who was unresponsive were (1) disgusting, and (2) rapists. I hope all the rapists will be identified, prosecuted as adults, and given long sentences. As a parent of girls, this disgusts and angers me - children should be safe. As a parent of boys, this disgusts me with the boys involved and angers me with their parents - children should be taught to behave decently and respectfully.

John Adams said, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” If that is true, judging by current and even accelerating cultural shifts, we might already have passed the point of no return.

The prudent American will trim his sails accordingly.

It’s common knowledge how children often feel invincible. Add hormones to that and you have a recipe for disaster. These kinds of things happen when you elevate childish young men to the status of gods.

I could not imagine growing up when everybody had a video camera in their pocket and an inane desire to post to YouTube. A smartphone describes the phone not the owner.
