EAST LANSING (WWJ) - A Michigan State University student is recovering after he was beaten up and had his mouth stapled shut during what investigators are categorizing as a brutal hate crime.
Zachary Tennen, a 19-year-old sophomore in MSU’s journalism program, said he was at a house party on the 500 block of Spartan Avenue early Sunday morning when two men approached him and asked if he was Jewish. When he responded “Yes,” the two men raised their arms into a Nazi salute and said “Heil Hitler” before knocking him unconscious, according to Tennen’s mother, Tina.
About 20 people reportedly watched as the men proceeded to staple Zachary Tennen’s mouth shut at the lips and gums. His jaw was broken in two places during the attack.

I am sickened by the description of this event the 20 soulless people standing silently by and watching this happen. How can even one decent person remain silent?

No idea what’s behind this incident, but it sounds like a really weird incident, or was reported oddly.
Why was he attacked? Why were there 20 people there? Why did they kick him out of a house after the attack? Did people help him or not? Why would attackers even have a stapler? Don’t think I’ve heard that one before.
He has a broken jaw, so something happened.

There is something strange here. Twenty people witnessed this and not one dialed 911 on his cell phone? What kind of people wouldn’t call the police when this happened?

If so, perhaps these 20 people were mostly muslime.

I am curious about the ethnic breakdown of the 20 people and the criminals that did the deed.
The police say others helped him to the hospital, contrary to his quoted statement.

What house is he talking about that kicked him out? Maybe bad reporting or more to this story.
My girlfriend had her mouth wired shut one time, she had to carry a pair of wire cutters with her in case she got sick and had to throw up.
Hope they catch the SOBs, they can continue their studies from a jail cell for a nice long time.

Just saw the report was in the Detroit Free Press and the incident was in East Lansing. Regardless, I am still curious as to the description of the criminals and the 20-witnesses. . .no description provided of either. . .odd.
Since this was reported as a “hate crime”, we’ll have to assume that the perps were white.
If they were any other “race”, it could not have been a hate crime.
