Don't blame Palin, she backed Sarah Steelman. Akin, what a loser.

Whoopi Goldberg survived an equally stupid comment, but I’m glad Akin is (apparently) withdrawing from the race. We don’t need to keep people capable of such stupidity.

The party could pull Akin and replace him with Steelman, who I believe would win handily.

But they won’t.

The difference is that Whoopi isn’t running for political office, so she has nothing to lose. Besides who watches The View anyway, a bunch of liberals so she was pandering to that base

How far behind Aikin did Sarah Steelman finish?

Steelman finished third in the primary, behind Todd Akin and John Brunner.

John Brunner was slightly ahead of Steelman.
Republican Todd Akin 217,404 36.05%
Republican John Brunner 180,788 29.98%
Republican Sarah Steelman 176,127 29.20%

If he is to be replaced, at least there's the Lautenberg rule.

Sure there is a double standard but is it a surprise? This was truly a macaca moment. If only he said "stranger rape" instead.

Thanks and statistically insignificant margin between Brunner and Steelman. Assuming Aikin does the right thing, then who makes the final decision? GOP state committee?

I would think Steelman would be the safer choice just to get this off the radar screen. But that might be perceived as unfair to Brunner.

Kudos to leading Republicans who unconditionally condemned Akin’s comments about rape and abortion. I’m a staunch pro-lifer, but rape is an entirely different story; especially to minimize such brutality by touting pregnancy rates of horrific cases. We are not Democrats and must always hold ourselves accountable: mistakes or not. Hopefully this paves the way for party leaders to replace him with the more conservative Sarah Steelman. I think having a woman replace him could help alleviate some of the concerns of female voters.

Whoopi is a liberal entertainer—notice any differences there from Akin?

Don't blame Palin, she backed Sarah Steelman.

So did a lot folks who can actually vote there.

Are their contributions so much less than hers?

Yeah, because she split the conservative vote with Akin.

If/when Aikn drops out, he should be replaced by Brunner. Brunner has a slightly better record than Steelman

I don't care if Palin endorsed her, Steelman can wait.

I didn’t say that.

I’m just saying that this could be considered another ‘win’ pick for Palin. There must be a reason why she didn’t endorse Akin. Maybe she saw something other people didn’t.
It substantiates her pick.

Thank you Lorianne!!! I was in transit and could not post this. Sarah backed the right candidate. I hope this idiot Akin pulls out and Steelman gets the nod.
