There’s a country song called “The House That Built Me” and I was telling a friend that it made me sad to know that I didn’t have such a place because of moving all the time. She laughed and said that she’d always been envious of me because I’d gotten to see so much of the world and she’d spent most of her life here in Alabama. I had to agree - wonder if some country singer couldn’t sing something about the base housing that built them. PS: And speaking of going back for your HS reunion in CA - I went to two of mine - Atwater HS, Class of 68.
I was very surprised and saddened to see how uninformed and narrowminded my classmates were at the reunion I went to..there is a lot more to life than sitting still.
I was a Marine and I went all over the place: Japan, Vietnam (naturally), the Philippines, Guam, Hawaii, Taiwan, California, Oklahoma, Virginia, the Soviet Union, Germany, Australia, France, Egypt and Israel. Great experience!
