I don't want them to understand. I just want them all to get the heck off my lawn. And leave me alone and stop stealing from me.

IMHO, the word “understands” is not what is actually in question. I’m sure Romney UNDERSTANDS the problem, and so does Obummer. Obummer SHOULD understand it; he CAUSED IT! His INTENTION is to drive our Nation to a Cloward & Piven financial collapse.
OTOH, Romney not only understands the situation. I am optimistic that he gives a crap about turning things around and stopping our sleighride into financial oblivion.

Actually, I can say with all honesty that neither could understand. Perhaps that’s part of the problem. Neither shares my reality. Romney needs a running mate that has middle class roots, understands what it is like to struggle to make ends meet, yet believes in individual responsibility and the freedom of opportunity - not dragged down by the albatross of regulation.

It just irritates me when they pretend to be something they’re not.

Who understands MY financial plight better?
1 for Romney...
Obama
128 Votes, or 33.24 %
Romney
257 Votes, or 66.75 %
Obama seems unable to comprehend that I don't actively dislike/envy my employer(s), or even my higher paid co-workers or neighbors.
My “finances” are wage enabled. My wages go up or down based on my own personal decisions regarding working and spending, and are not dependent on any “generosity” of government, at any level.
Romney is better suited to comprehend my dislike of the government sector pretending they care about my “finances”, other than their ability to confiscate as much of it as they can, for themselves.

I don’t really get this one..
Am I supposed to answer Obama or Romney?
To: dynachrome
We have a near perfect fulfillment of the opposition's stereotype in both Obama and Romney, to the point of caricature.
Neither appear even dimly aware of any “plight” outside a narrow set of predefined symbolic issues that conform to party expectations.
So, this poll badly needs a “NOTA” (none of the above) option.

It’s not the NY Daily News, it’s the Los Angeles Daily News.
