20 Republicans set to uphold controversial UN treaty (CALL YOUR SENATOR!!!!)
Examiner ^ | 7-9-2012 | Anthony Martin

Posted on 07/10/2012 2:28:09 PM PDT by ak267

Twenty Republican senators are set to join with Democrats in upholding LOST. Some who are included in the list of 20 are those who have not yet decided how they will vote on the issue. Thus, the list of 20 includes those who have either declared support for LOST or declined to indicate their views on the subject one way or the other

The 20 are:

Enzi, McConnell, Hutchison, Toomey, Johanns, Ayotte, Graham, McCain, Lugar, Kirk, Snowe, Collins, Murkowski, Isakson, Grassley, Portman, Corker, Cochran, Brown, and Alexander.

One political activist stated that it is important for citizens to call the offices of all 20 to make sure those Senators are on the record with their intent to vote against the treaty. McConnell and Toomey now state they will vote no.

“Some who are included in the list of 20 are those who have not yet decided how they will vote on the issue.”

So, the headline is a lie?

” - - - Upon the advice of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, President Obama has confirmed his intention to sign two controversial U.N. treaties — the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) and the so called “small arms” treaty.”

FYI.

FYI: When Senators use that kind of language, it means they’re hoping no one will notice so they can sneak their vote.

However, it you apply the pressure, these worms can squirm.

Two GOP senators have turned....we need to turn five more. The Dems need 14 GOP to cross over. All Dem senators will vote for this (unless we can apply pressure and make a big statement in the November elections).

More info about it here:
http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2012/07/law-of-the-sea-treaty-bad-for-american-energy-policy

“the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), which would expose the United States to baseless environmental lawsuits, including suits based on alleged U.S. contributions to global climate change. Accession would also require the U.S. to transfer billions of dollars in oil and gas royalties generated on its continental shelf to UNCLOS member states, particularly landlocked states and states that are the least developed.

The U.S. does not need to join the convention in order to access oil and gas resources located on its extended continental shelf (ECS), the Arctic, or the Gulf of Mexico. Instead, it can and should use bilateral treaties with neighboring countries to demarcate the limits of its maritime and continental shelf boundaries.

“FYI: When Senators use that kind of language, it means they’re hoping no one will notice so they can sneak their vote.”

FYI: when you become a liar and get in the mud with the pigs, you become swine, too. The GOP is bad enough when it comes to muck; the Grand Old Potty needs to be flushed. We can do it by being honest with people. Wasn’t that the lesson of the Tea Party in 2010?
