Danica Patrick's fourth and final Daytona start in 2012 ended just like the first three; with a crash.
Patrick qualified third and spent most of the evening near the front, leading five times for a career-high 13 laps, and missed the race's 14-car pileup because she was at the head of the pack. It wouldn't have been a stretch to say that Patrick might have had the race's best car.
But 17 laps later, Patrick wasn't so lucky. Jeffrey Earnhardt went around off the bumper of Ricky Stenhouse ahead of Patrick, and Patrick, who was on the outside as the field exited Turn 2, darted to the inside to miss Earnhardt's car. But as she made her move to the left, she clipped the front bumper of a car and off she went towards the inside wall.

Restrictor plate racing - NASCAR’s way of giving the untalented a chance to run up front. Danica SUCKS!! 200+ professional racing starts and at the age of 30, she has ONE fluke, gas mileage win.
Didn't she race Indy cars?
I wish they would go back to showroom stock cars. I just don’t care to see cars which are stock in no way except the way they look.
“Women drivers.”
Over-hyped drivers.
Fixed it.
(Basically 99% promotion, 1% driving ability - gender not part of the equation, other than for promotional purposes.)
I’m not a Danica fan, and especially her nutcase parents are noxious, but if you watched her race at Road America last week, she’s got talent.
At Road America, what made her look good was her qualifying run. This gave her track position throughout the race. Road courses are all about positioning and strategy. She pretty much stayed in the same spot execpt for the numerous times she was passed and finally punted by Villineuve at the end.
You may have noticed that at last night's race, she wasn't getting behind anyone and pushing. This is likely due to her inexperience and lack of trust other drivers put in her.
She's overrated, overexposed and nothing but a marketing gimmick. There's a busload of more talented drivers out there that are not getting the chance in the sport because rather than putting the best product on the race track, we are only seeing the most 'marketable' drivers instead. Lame.
Agreed, she has what it takes to be on the track. She may not win but the same is true of 20 other series regulars.
And this has changed since 1947? Racing has always been a sport where money is huge. Some get it from sponsors, some from personal wealth, some from performance.
Ha ha ha...now go home and fix dinner.
“but if you watched her race at Road America last week, shes got talent.”
Clearly, not enough talent.
Danica isn’t a skilled race car driver, she’s a personality.
Top 5 all day until froggie boy crashed her out.
That’s talent in my book.
Certainly nowhere near the best but if Dale Jr and Smoke are willing to take Bob Parsons $$$$$$$ to put her in a program, I’d say she’s good enough to be on the track.
Anybody that has five top 10 finishes in the Indy 500 qualifies as a skilled race car driver.
You can debate the level of her talent, but she’s qualified to be on the track.
A busload of more talented drivers that haven't learned one of the most basic lessons of all: sex sells.
You can by all the pretty race cars you want, but if you suck on the track, you're just making laps.
Danica is nothing more than a marketing ploy. Marketing ploys make for crappy racing. I look forward every week to watching her crash, that's all.
she's the Anna Kournikova of racing without the killer body...
But at least she lived up to her name......Patwreck.
And brings more idiot fans to the sport to watch a lousy product.
pretty sure she’s won as many Sprint Cup Championships as 80% of the other drivers on the circuit.....
Including Junior.
She’s a hammer and she’s cute when she’s pissed....

Says it all.
Let's face it, her accomplishments in no way rate the hype she has recieved from NASCAR and the media. IMO, she was the best woman who would agree to cross over from Indy or F1 to NASCAR to assist them in their diversity outreach program.
Kourinikova is a very pretty girl but there is nothing wrong with Patrick’s figure.
She’s still hot.
It’s no big deal. When the men get in wrecks, we don’t blame them, or call them lousy drivers. Multi-car wrecks are an integral part of NASCAR racing.
When you blame Dale Jr., Jimmy Johnson, Tony Stewart, etc. for getting in a wreck, then you can fairly blame Danica Patrick.
Maybe... but she's not that bad...
as the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder...
Agreed.
I’m wondering now why NASCAR didn’t just hire Rodney King as a driver.
Toonces!
Yup, that’s what Eric the beHolder says too
If Nascar wants to chase skirts and bikinis, so be it.
just so they don’t make all the drivers wear them off the track. ;-]
LOL on the Yahoo site someone said Bush made here wreck!
LOL on the Yahoo site someone said Bush made her wreck!
Maybe why it is now called N(ot) A S(tock)CAR, now.
I will admit she does try hard.. and there are some drivers who have no problem taking her out intentionally or otherwise.. on the track, I mean. ;-}
She’s an uphill racer in a downhill sport.. for her, nothing comes easy. some would question smoke and junior investing so much in her quest. it ain’t no sweat off their pocketbooks, in the end, the sponsors and fans pay the ticket price.
>>>if you suck on the track you’re just making laps<<<
A really hilarious (and anatomically correct) way of labeling her a lapper!
...and just why do you assume that I've NEVER blamed any of those you mentioned, as well as others, for their transgressions?
One thing that always amazes me about FReepers is how they know exactly what other FReepers know/don't know, have/haven't said and/or done/not done in the past.
there's a scary thought, and now my minds eye is blind...
Patrick washed out of IRL and she’s in the process of washing out of NASCAR. If she weren’t mildly hot, she’d be nobody.
In NASCAR, I'm sure it's her attitude that has hurt her. No one is gonna help her out until she loses the attitude, and I think she's learning that.
I'm just a casual observer, but heard one of the ESPN race pundits say that Earnhardt, Jr. has been relegated to being a pusher for years. If that's true, there's an unwritten law called "pay your dues before you get the gravy, even if your daddy was famous". So, an attitude adjustment would be just the start for her.
Seven years of Professional racing. And six years rank in the top 10 and one in the top 5! For all the sexist haters out there, you are the same jerks that insult the QB’s who never won a Superbowl either. There are 50 Hall of Fame Quarterbacks who never won a ring !!
Danica not only has brought millions to the motor sports, but has been top 10 every damn year except her first year. That is six consecutive top ten winning seasons and she is currently ranks 9th this year, so she is pushing for seven in a row.
Lazy stupid couch potato critics. GTFOTH!
Indy 500 finishes - 7 attempts
4-8-8-22-3-6-10
A creditable record by any measure
Compare to Tony Stewart - 5 attempts
24-5-33-9-6 (I'm not a fan, particularly can't stand her parents, but have to give credit where credit is due)
blahblahblah.
