Just curious. Has anyone had any trouble, this morning, connecting to the internet? Might just be in my area, central Indiana. Was down for about an hour. Thought I'd check it out.
All was fine here in Texas.
Had trouble first thing here in CT. I think it’s back.
Okay here in Florida ...
“The Internet” (backbone routers & lots and lots of fiber) doesn’t “go down” per se...you’re connection to the Internet is another thing. Your ISP is? Indiana looks generally OK...Missouri is looking bad and the East coast is still fixing up after the storms:

ISP is AT&T.
Thanks for the link. I’ll check it out.
Also, thanks to everyone else for their responses.
Are you logged in?
I expect that one day, maybe soon, there will be a major Internet failure that will result in a massive number of computers worldwide not being able to connect.
That’s what spooks me every time this happens.
Someone may have bumped a DSLAM cable in your local AT&T CO (Central Office)...happened to me once in awhile when I had “regular” AT&T DSL...I am now on U-Verse “Super DSL”. They tend to do maintenance in the early mornings, and that is when things get “bumped”! Good Luck!
AT&T in southern part of the state is or recently has converted to 3G. They are still “fixing” issues according to the store rep yesterday. You may be in one of those areas.
We just got connected to the 3G system this month...Madison, Brown County, Jackson County ....areas along I 65 South. Is your county connected yet?
thanks for the link
The internet is down. No one can connect.
have you set your beebers to stune?
Telltale sign: Is there a host covering the sun?
Yesterday was a holiday. The internet was closed for Independence Day until 6am this morning.
:)
Mine is down right now also.
Hay, I found the guy who divided by zero.
/ bad joke.
No, we’re good here in the armpit of NY.
I wish FR would research ways to make accessing the forums a bit easier on mobile devices.
Mobile devices are themselves hit or miss.
The budget Android phones have problems, and not every internet capable phone is capable of all websites for various reasons.
It is, by and large, an issue of the phone software itself.
Not every site can be optimized for every phone out there.
Not very helpful, I know.
I imagine if thst happens, I will be able to hear it from my window (people screaming).
I picked up a Galaxy S II this spring, just recently I started using it to access FR and even to post comments. Of course its slow typing on a cell phone even though its does have a fast processor, its just the fact I have to constantly expand the screen to see anything, too much on a single page.
But I do enjoy pissing off the grammar nazis when I do post comments.
CGEB blast from the past!
“Of course its slow typing on a cell phone “
Watched a guy I know do that.
He kept saying, “Not ‘S’! I didn’t hit ‘S’! Why do you keep thinking I hit ‘S’?!”
He had wide fingers and he was typing on a screen the size of an iphone.
But yeah, formatting for phones is... fun.
If you format for one phone, another doesn’t like it and will garbage the view up.
My phone will access the web ten times faster than the current puter I have. To be a true blue right wing patriotic soldier I must become mobile, my next purchase may be a decent tablet to compliment the phone which has its own WiFi hotspot, I just learned how to tether it to another device.
All your connect are belong to us.
Grab the accessory keyboard for the tablet.
Onscreen keyboards suck, and you run less of a risk of scratching your screen.
Strongbad from Homestar Runner, “The system.. is down”
As I was reading this thread, I saw a crawler on Fox and Friends that said simply: Internet Down:” They said something about talking about it later, then they went to break. By the way, no problems here in my part of New Mexico.
I bought some screen plastic covers, some exotic stuff from Japan, you cannot tell its there hardly, the one I have on is still very good even though I am using greasy fingers at work swiping on it.
The whole plan is to be mobile and not too too easy to track down. I won’t go into the software thats used by CSI to triangulate cellphones. If the Obama stormtroopers really want to track down the patriotic dissenters I may just spread some bread crumbs for them.
They just talked about the “Internet Down” crawler. Had nothing to do with the internet being currently down. Seems the FBI is warning people of a Malware that can affect people’s computers starting next Monday. They mentioned this site for info and to test and see if you have the Malware: http://www.dcwg.org/

The Internet is the biggest catch 22 in history.
Despite all of the wonders of the Internet, it has radically changed society as much, or more, then anything in history, and much of it for the worse.
My life is totally different then it would be if there had been no Internet.
My international living started with the Internet, otherwise I would still be back on my farm in west Tennessee.
It’s still not working!
;)
“central Indiana”, didn’t you guy get hit last week w/ an UGLY Thunderstom Weather System. Ya think that may have something to do w/ it?
Malware may knock thousands off Internet on Monday
The warnings about the Internet problem have been splashed across Facebook and Google. Internet service providers have sent notices, and the FBI set up a special website.
But tens of thousands of Americans may still lose their Internet service Monday unless they do a quick check of their computers for malware that could have taken over their machines more than a year ago.
Despite repeated alerts, the number of computers that probably are infected is more than 277,000 worldwide, down from about 360,000 in April. Of those still infected, the FBI believes that about 64,000 are in the United States.
Users whose computers are still infected Monday will lose their ability to go online, and they will have to call their service providers for help deleting the malware and reconnecting to the Internet.
To check whether a computer is infected, users can visit a website run by the group brought in by the FBI: http://www.dcwg.org .

Yesterday, I had problems accessing many websites while others came through with no issues. I tried a variety of pages, too. I have never experienced that situation. It lasted about an hour.
“Its still not working!”
LOL. yea, still not working. Sending this telepathically!
Other poster asked about maybe storm related. Had some nasty ones roll through north of here last couple of days.
Yea. Heard about this a while back. Not sure I trust anything the FBI puts out there for our use.
Sad to say, I trust Obama’s FBI even less than I trust malware programers.
It has widened my horizons immensely. Through it, I have found my family which was lost 70 years ago through a divorce. I have discovered who some of my many great (great...) grandparents are, and where they are buried. Have found living relatives, cousins I never knew I had...
