Today the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Federal Government can tax citizens because they exist, not because they earn income, but because they exist. There are no limits on the amount we can be taxed to exist.
We are all now officially slaves owned by and for the U.S. Federal Government.

Some thoughts on the news of the decision. These are based on news reports as I haven’t read the actual decision yet.
This is a typical act of USSJC cowardice. They always look for the weasel way out of hot issues by trying to construe matters so narrowly as to minimize their required action. Roberts is especially prone to this. Thanks again, GWB.
In construing the mandate as a tax, the Roberts court put themselves in the position of being the Legislature’s editor - in effect, usurping the Legislative authority - yet again. They should have restricted themselves to the plain meaning of what the Legistaltive Branch actually said. [It wouldn’t hurt if they likewise restricted themselves to the plain meaning of the Constitution, as well.]
The unintended consequences of this decision will be disastrous. There is now absolutely no limit to the government’s power to force us to do anything it wishes as long as they deem it a ‘tax’. Limited government is gone.
The Constitution took mortal wounds during the FDR administration. Today it died. Leviathan has won. There is no longer any Constitution that the Founders would recognize.
I consider this as the end of my oath to preserve, protect and defend. The counterparty to that oath has unilaterally abbrogated it.
My wife just laid out our DVD of 1776 which we have watched every 4th of July since the Bicentennial. I told her to put it away; I can’t bear to look at it now.
what this does...and what it is supposed to do...is pave the way for a “carbon” tax...which literally will tax you for breathing. If you can’t pay your “breathing tax” you WILL BE “indentured” to someone who can.....

His distinction that the individual mandate is "fairly contrued" as a tax rather than an Unconstitutional extension of the Commerce Clause requiring a behavior is no distinction to the person fined or penalized. This kind of "taxing" is just starting.
Today is the day that millions more Americans will realize that they have utterly forfeited their precious legacy of liberty bequeathed to them by the founding fathers and preserved for them by every succeeding generation.

Today!?!? Where have you been for the last 50 years? It was shredded a long time ago and for all practical purposes has no real meaning. You have the right to kill your unborn child (if you’re a woman that is) but all other “rights” as defined in the bill of rights or limitations on government power were long ago swept aside. I’ve been saying for quite some time that the US had turned into a fascist state and this just puts the bow and ribbon on it.

I did not say I was happy I am simply saying this is all about the constitution therefore do not treat it like vanilla or chocolate question. It is. Ery complicated and it will show to be for the people. The mandate is not clearly upheld when it come to states!
