The three "E"s of the GOP-E. What does the "E" mean? Here is what it means.

Posted on 06/18/2012 3:06:52 PM PDT by Halfmanhalfamazing

I still get republicans who scratch their heads and wonder what "GOP-E" means. Show this to them. The "E" means:

(1)Establishment.

It really is _us_ conservatives vs THEM in the establishment. And I don't mean "established". Just because someone gets elected, yes, they get 'established' in their various positions and offices. But "The Establishment" is a specific group, they are the

(2)Elite

of the republican party. But why do we conservatives have so much disdain for the establishment? It's because they are

(3)Enablers

Of people like Obama, or Reid, or anybody else. How often do you hear someone like Pelosi get up on the house floor in order to pitch for the latest big government push and the phrase "...... that democrats and republicans have supported......." comes out of their mouth?(or a phrase just like it)

Just the other day, Obama gave a speech in which he cited Nixon, Eisenhower, and Reagan.

http://articles.latimes.com/2012/apr/03/news/la-pn-obama-speech-transcript-20120403/2

Reagan is of course, the exception to this rule. The progressives take him out of context constantly. The majority of Reagan's life was devoted to shrinking government.

But the republican establishment are indeed enablers of the progressive agenda.

Obama is correct in mentioning that Nixon gave us the EPA, and of Eisenhower and the highways.

It was Bush who said this: "I've abandoned free market principles to save the free market system" on the eve of Obama's immaculation.

It was republicans in the senate who blocked Reagan from going after the Department of Education.

It was Bush *AND* congressional republicans who spent like drunken progressives which led to both the 2006 sweep(where many of us stayed home) and 2008, because nobody trusted big government republicans.

It was another Bush who stated "read my lips, no new taxes" and then raised our taxes anyways, which is likely the reason why he lost and gave us Clinton. Yes, Bush41 owns Clinton's electoral victory. People wouldn't have looked elsewhere if Bush hadn't betrayed the things he said he believed in.

It was a republican, Fred Upton, who gave us the lightbulb ban. Did I mention that it's big government republicans who enable progressives to steal our liberty?

It was a republican, McCain, with help from another republican, Lindsey Graham, who attempted to give us yet another round of amnesty for illegals.

It was a republican, Herbert Hoover, who gave us the largest peacetime tax increase in US history.(at least, at that time)

And Supreme Court justice David Souter was nominated by a Republican, who would go on to help affirm one of the worst decisions in US history: Kelo vs New London.

And let's not forget that the 2008 republicans in congress didn't say one word after the 2010 landslide, while Obama and the progressives transformed the lame duck session into a scorched-earth session. We Americans wholly repudiated progressivism at the ballotbox, and the republicans STILL couldn't listen. They kept on enabling for those few months.

And even now, Boehner and McConnell are some of the biggest spineless wusses I've seen since Bob Michel. All these go-along-to-get-along republicans are exactly the same to me.

These are just a handful of examples of enablement that the GOP-E have done, that I can come up with off of the top of my head. I'd bet every conservative who sees this post can think of their own example of GOP-E enablement of progressive causes.

TOPICS: Chit/Chat
KEYWORDS: elite; enablers; establishment
Before we conservatives can defeat the democrat party, we must first defeat the republican party. It's that simple. We can't keep having "our team" undermine liberty and help the other side grow government. It didn't work in Reagan's day, it didn't work in Bush's day, and it won't work in the age of Obamunism.

We must raise the level of conscienceness of the the word, and what it means to be “Conservative”.

Romney calls himself “Conservative”. Many RINO’s call themselves “Conservatives”. THEY have hijacked the word, and have applied it to their liberalism leaving true conservatism to be labeled by the Leftist MSM as Right Wing Extremism.

They have gotten away so far with redefining “Conservatism”, and it has to be stopped, or we of true Conservative bent will be left with radical Right Wing Extremism as our identification.

(4) E = End. It spells the end of my financial support of the GOP simply because there are more worthwhile causes to send my money to.

I have no desire to ever again support those that introduce and approve laws that they themselves are not subjected to e.g. Obamacare.

The GOP will have to grow some huge gonads before I ever support them again.

Republicans gave us the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

“Like a shipwrecked, exhausted Gulliver on the beach of Lilliput, America is to be tied down with threads, strand by strand, until it cannot move when it awakens. ‘Piece by piece,” our sovereignty is being surrendered.”

Republicans gave us the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

Bush signed it, but it took Clinton to get it through Congress.

What a lot of people don't want to admit, though: the process started under Reagan, who promoted the idea in his two election campaigns.

How about egotistical, emasculated, eviscerated embarrassments?

2 might be better defined as well-off social liberals who happen to have fiscally conservative tendencies.

It’s quite a stretch to associate Reagan with the version of NAFTA that was finally adopted. I’m with Reagan on free trade, but NAFTA isn’t free trade and my bet is Reagan would have vetoed the bastardized version that was concocted.

As someone who has been away from FR for awhile, had to look up what "GOPe", "GOPE", "GOP-E", etc. were. So I found this thread, and figured I'd bump it--new folks and maybe others like me might benefit.

I think I get it. Here's the face of GOPe:

And here are some antiestablishment faces:

So true. The Republicans self-immolated in 1974 and came out with something better, Reagan. Just as the Whigs self-destructed and the Republicans gave us Abe Lincoln. Earlier, the Federalists imploded. I can’t say what the Whigs gave us was better than Washington and Adams, though.
